Yankees considering Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd

The Yankees are looking at Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd as the trade deadline nears (CBSSports, July 30).

Byrd, in his second stint with Philadelphia, his seventh major league team, is hitting .273 with 20 home runs and 60 RBI. He was 4-for-5 Monday in the Phillies’ 7-1 loss to the Mets at Citi Field.

Byrd, 36, signed a two-year contract with Philadelphia and is owed $8 million for next season.
