The Yankees (31-30) lost to the Royals (30-32) 8-4 at Kaufman Stadium on Saturday night.
Need to know: After rallying from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at 3-3, Yankees starter David Phelps gave the game right back in the sixth. two walks to open the inning, then a long home run by Salvador Perez gave the Royals a 6-3 and set them on their way. Perez had three hits and was a triple short of the cycle and had three RBIs. Phelps went 5 2/3 innings and gave up 10 hits and seven runs to fall to fall to 1-4 on the season. Danny Duffy was excellent in five plus innings, but Aaron Crow got the vulture win to improve to 3-1 on the year for the Royals..
