Need To Know: Brian McCann hit the first two home runs of his season. After striking out in the first inning and dropping his batting average to .158, McCann quickly reversed his fortunes. The seven-time All-Star led off the fourth with a liner into the first row of the second deck in right field.

Carlos Beltran, Alfonso Soriano and Kelly Johnson also connected for the Yankees.

Hiroki Kuroda allowed four earned runs for the Yankees over 6 1/3 innings. He allowed six hits, walked three and struck out five.

Shawn Kelley earned his second save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The Yankees and Red Sox play again on Sunday night, an 8 p.m. start.
