To make room for Cervelli on the roster, C John Ryan Murphy was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed catcher Francisco Cervelli would be activated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday. He has been on the DL since April 13 with a strained hamstring (ESPN, June 16).
John Ryan Murphy will likely be sent down to Triple-A to make room on the roster.
“John Ryan Muphy’s been great. He’s done a tremendous job,” Cashman said. “We planned on him having a full development year at Triple-A for us, but Cervelli’s injury opened up the opportunity for him to come on up and we’ve benefited.”
