    Jeff Allison back in trouble

"Allison faces three felony charges -- one count for heroin possession and two for possession of stolen vehicles -- stemming from separate incidents last week in North Carolina, a spokesperson with the Guilford County Clerk of Courts said."

Just so sad. This kid was being touted as an absolute phenom and the way it has turned out has become hard to watch. By this point any potential career he could have had in baseball is gone, I hope that some day he'll be able to get his life in order.
Wilbon: What is it specifically about Arod that guys like Schill and Trot Nixon just can't stand?

Kornheiser: He's better looking, he's cooler, he's got all the money. That's what they can't stand.

What a shame... The kid had so much talent but the biggest worry now will be staying clean. I think as far as baseball goes he's done.

Being a local kid (Peabody, MA) I was really rooting for Allison to beat the odds, but this looks like he last shot at pro ball, I don't see anyone giving him a shot again, unless he somehow doesn't get jail time and can completely clean himself up. It's been done before (Steve Howe), but it's not likely .... really too bad.

The Marlins have taken him back

Peabody's Jeff Allison, the former first-round draft pick of the Florida Marlins, inched closer to a return to professional baseball after reporting to the Marlins' minor league complex in Jupiter, Fla., recently.

oceast was just poking a little fun at the fact that the D-Rays have had a number of great prospects who haven't done that well off the field. Saying a great Rays prospect w/ life problems could yield many answers.

Yes, he is. It really just shows how talented the guy is. He didn't play pro baseball for about 4 years, had about 70-ish, if that, at-bats in SS and won a job in ST and is doing quite well--.914 OPS. This guy can just fall of his bed and play, that's how good he is. Just naturally, exceptionally talented.
