If he's not in Detroit, get him there...Wang.
Jaret Wright and he will lead us back to New York for game 5.

Wang is in NY - irrelevant question.

Wright. We've gotta win both so there wouldn't be any advantage in going to Wang on 3 days rest, because we'd have to go to Wright Sunday anyway.

He's been rock solid lately. All I asked for was to split these 2 games in Detroit, come back and hold serve at the Stadium.

It has to be jaret.

Exactly. Actually, it's a moot point now, but I said before this series started that I would have pitched Wright in gm 3 instead of Johnson. At this point (b/c of RJ's injuries, etc), Wright is the better pitcher. And while Wang is definitely our ace, even if he was in Detroit I'm confident Wright can help us win; that is, if the offense manages to score a run or two.Originally Posted by b_joseph

If it's not Wang, it's got to be Wright.
If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.
Wright b/c even if Wang's the better pitcher, it won't make a difference if we can't score ONE freakin' run! Shut out by the gambler??? Unfreakin' believable.
Two Wangs don't make a Wright.
Wasn't Wright doing well his past few games? He's our only hope now

For us or them?
For us. Whoever, he better throw a no hit shutout.
For them. Try the batboy. Everybody laughed at Kenny Rogers. We couldn't hit the singer tonight; hey we couldn't hit Roy Rogers; more, we couldn't hit Ginger Rogers.

Joe just said that it's a dead issue: Wright tomorrow and "we aren't going to mess with the kids future" by pitching Wang.

Wright. If we only had to win one game, I'd consider Wang, but the Yanks have to win two.
why pitch wang on short rest for this team of chokers ??

Give the ball to Jarrett. He has been anchor on this ship all year, if we go down we go down with him.

Yeah. Do you think the Yankee players are responding to tonight's loss the way some fans are?Originally Posted by b_joseph

We have to win 2 games. The question then is:
Do we have a better chance of winning 2 games with both Wang and Moose pitching on 3 days rest? Or are the chances better with Wright and Wang pitching on normal rest. I take the latter.
Jaret Wright will win tomorrow, period. And then Wang will win on Sunday. I'm very excited for a great weekend.
“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.”
If loving you is Wang, I don't want to be Wright.
Waiting for Sterling to retire so I can start listening to games on the radio again...
Hey, hey, lets not be like ARod who shows fake emotions when he is in pressure/slump. Lets just keep our fingers crossed and watch the game and hope for the best.Originally Posted by JeffWeaverFan

Its the second comment that is the truism about this game. We must generate some offense.Originally Posted by NYYFAN

Wright is a no brainer. What difference does it make if we go Wright-Wang or if we go Wang-Wright? We still need Wright. I don't see Moose going on short rest other than out of the pen.

Oh, if only Carl Pavano was healthy.

If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.
The front office was dumb enough to give Wright a three year contract. Let's see if he can earn his money (I'm betting he will stink out the joint).
Maradona good.
Pele better.

Thank you.. that is the reason it has to be wright.. if moose was able to pitch on 3 days rest tomorrow ( if game 2 wasnt postponed), i would have given thought to pitching wang on 3 days restOriginally Posted by yanksconstantino24
moose wouldnt be on 3 days rest.. he pitched thursday (game 2 was postponed) and there is no way that he will be available on sunday (maybe for an inning)Originally Posted by JeffWeaverFan

Even if that was the case, I have more confidence in Wright on long rest and Wang on regular rest than both Wang and Mussina on short rest. I hate to say it, but I have more confidence in Jaret Wright than I do Mike Mussina in any circumstance. Because if Mussina is pitching, something is bound to go wrong, whether its one bad pitch, a terrible inning, or an error; it just always seems to be something.Originally Posted by pre73

Had the game not been rained out Wed. you could of went with Wang & Mussina on 3 days rest. Since this is not possible it has to be Wright in Game 4. If he wins you have a rested Wang tomorrow.
Wright, not even a question.

Postseason OPS: .977

Wright would have to pitch this series either way. Unless you want Moose going on 2 days rest.
Wright, we gotta win two games. If Wang wins game 4 and we lose game 5 then there would be no point. Keep Wang on his regular schedule and win with Wright. We've won more times wiht Wright then we've lost so I feel good about both of them
Guess its too late to fly Wang in.
