Last night, at the end of the radio broadcast John Sterling announced that for Friday's game, he will have a "special guest" sharing the radio booth in the name of Tino Martinez.
Suzyn will be off.

I hope it goes well so they can make it permanent.![]()
That's cool. I'll definitely make it a point to tune in whether I'm in the car or even at home.Originally Posted by Nettles

Ooh. A future broadcast team of Sterling and Tino, allowing Suzyn to return to YES.I like.

No way, after last night's champaign party.Originally Posted by gdn

Please have this move somehow be permanent. Suzyn Waldman is awful and I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard.
I like Suzyn, I think she knows her stuff and provides a lot of useful information. I would MUCH rather listen to Sterling and Suzyn than Kay... I can't stand himOriginally Posted by Shaun4013

I'll have to make a point of trying to catch at least part of it ... and I agree, Tino has gotten much better on ESPN as the year has progressed.

Great move. I've never liked Waldman after she jumped ship on the 1998 Yankees when they were down 2-1 to the Indians. That and the terrible voice.
Alex Rodriguez
Career OPS: .965
Postseason OPS: .977
Sweet... I will listen.
Mini Putt My record is 20
I STILL support A-Rod
A-Rod's 2010 Season: .325, 63 HR, 164 RBI
My prediction for Javier Jazquez in 2010: 12-10, 4.84
I will gladly eat my words if I am way off.
I'll definately listen. I love hearing Tino talk baseball.
PS. This is not going to be a permanent thing (not yet anyways) Tino has already accepted a coaching job at the University of South Florida.

I won't be able to listen fridayPlease someone post how Tino does in the role! Thanks.
I'm looking forwward to seeing Tino work with Sterling, but I hope it's not going to be a permanant thing. I love Tino as much as anyone, but he's just not that smooth of a broadcaster.Originally Posted by yancydc

Tino accepted a job as a coach with the college he went to (I can't think of it off the top of my head). He'll be working there next year, not broadcasting.
RIP Cory Lidle. Forever a Yankee.
I still believe.
Suzyn said that her broadcasting contract contains a clause that excuses her from doing games on Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur.Originally Posted by ZIM 2002

I can't believe she's in the booth - my only problem with her is her voice - but boy is it a problem. Hopefully Tino opens people eyes a bit...
Baseball is supposed to be FUN!!!
I like Tino and all but his voice may be just as annoying as Suzyns
""Snoop Dogg," he said. "Good songs."" Chien-Ming Wang
I kinda like Tino's voice. (Yeah, I know I'm in the minority here.)Originally Posted by HidekiIrabu

What is wrong with Tino's wardrobe? I like the suits he wears, especially the midnight blue one with gray pinstripes.Originally Posted by Gehrig'sGhost

Those who can — do. Those who can’t — criticize.
Sterling has agreed to allow Tino 5 sentences of no more that 9 words each during the game.
If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.
thats cool. I will make it a point to listen to the radio broadcast.

That's awesome. I hope it becomes a more permanent thing.

It is nice to see a pro-Yank on ESPN.

He already has? Damn...Originally Posted by yanksconstantino24

Nice, sounds good. We all love Tino. He's such a Yankee homer![]()
I hope Tino doesn't wear his old DRay Cap.

And here I thought they were teaming up to fight N.A.G.S....
Waiting for Sterling to retire so I can start listening to games on the radio again...
Did anyone else listen tonight? I thought TINO did a good job and he LOVES the Yankees. Such a homer and I love it! Suzyn is supposedly coming back tomorrow though.
I did not like her at all when she was on YES but for some reason I don't find her so bad on the radio. I always thought she talked too fast on TV but haven't found that to be the case on radio so I almost wonder if she got some coaching or something.Originally Posted by BHawe

And I missed the game....crap
How was Tino?
As you would expect, added a lot of pitching/hitting/player analysis that of course Suzyn cannot credibly, and usually does not, do. Enjoyed listening to him.Originally Posted by keithf1

I did. I thought Tino did a really good job. I really liked how he said the one thing he really wants is to see Don Mattingly get a ring and have the chance to be in the parade. He then went on to thank George Steinbrenner for giving him the chance to come to the Yanks at just the right time, and he also thanked fans for supporting him and the Yanks.Originally Posted by stephsamps
Man, I'm so ticked off that I missed it. I adore Tino, as much as sometimes he seems kind of awkward on BBTN (or, you know, not made for TV broadcasting).
Hmmm, I wonder how his coaching gig will turn out. Maybe he could be a Yankee coach one day...

He pretty much said he would do anything as long as it was with the Yankees. The man has a love affair, and it is cute as hell!Originally Posted by spyglass

I heard a little of Tino while I was driving home from work. Tino has better insight than any non-player can offer. Would much rather hear him on the radio than Suzyn. Only complaint with Tino is that I think he speaks too fast.
I thought the same thing. Great insight into the nuances of the game but SLOW DOWN. He sounds like the guy from the fedex commercial.Originally Posted by Pinstripedbass

I think it's something that Tino can work on. I'd love it if he could work Yankee broadcasts on a regular basis. I hope the work he does this weekend gets his interest going.
