100% agree. He's been careful with the whole starting staff....Originally Posted by fredgmuggs
Heck, he even has babied Pavano this season, keeping him under 1 inning pitched.
Seriously, though, I agree. The fact he now has the better part of a month to coast into October and ensure his pen arms don't get taxed is great.
I was suprised when he came in that day.Originally Posted by conkermaniac

I attribute '95 to Buck not trusting Wetteland. Even without Edgar coming up, he went with freaking Jack McDowell to save Game 5 - when McDowell's arm was being held on with cotter pins and chewing gum.Originally Posted by gold23
I'll never forget that shot ABC had of Wetteland in the bullpen with his hands on his waist, waiting to come in. And Showalter goes with McDowell. Incredible. If you're gonna get beat, get beat with your closer in.
But that was four rings ago...still cheeses me off, though...
Waiting for Sterling to retire so I can start listening to games on the radio again...
Series win for the Yankees!
A great night that highlights what has been an excellent year for Posada.
RJ pitches well without being overworked.

He should have left Mo in the game. A blind man could see he was nearly unhittable that night.Originally Posted by PeteRFNY

Yeah, that too! Showalter's bullpen management makes Torre look like a genius (which is why I don't complain about it as much as many of my contemporaries do). 11 years later and that game still makes me eat grumblecakes!Originally Posted by fredgmuggs

Righteous! Another series in the can. Now I must fight the urge to call out sick on Friday and go down to Baltimore...!

You are basing this off radar gun readings. Do you remember when we came out of the All-Star Break and Proctor was hitting 97? He's hanging around 94 right now, which isn't nearly as significant as his dropoff earlier in the season (when he was at around 91), but it shows at least that he could benefit from some more rest. He can still be effective throwing 94, 95, but why wouldn't we want a Proctor who can come out of the bullpen throwing 97, 98 in the playoffs? The bite on his slider has also decreased, and he's hanging more breaking balls.Originally Posted by gold23
