A request for Red Sox Game Thread???

    Re: Red Sox thread (continued)

    Request to Moderators:

As I am sure you may have noticed, certain recent events have left many Red Sox fans in a somewhat subdued, dare I say it, depressed state. Now, I know I am a "newbie", but I have always lived by, you don't get anything, unless you ask....so....

    here is my question

Would it be possible to have a Red Sox Game Thread for maybe one of the late night games this week to give some of the Sox Fans here, who bring so much to this thread, Rice 14, Bucky, Archer, Hildy, Marietta, et als, and maybe some new comers (like, oh, maybe, me) and others, have sort of a Make a Wish baseball fan style, so as to be able to comment on a game with Sox and Yankees fans, and experience something other than a postmortem discourse....it might get people off of things like payroll, and Theo, and all that other stuff, that is ad nauseum, sometimes making this thread sound like a really boring Finance and Sports Seminar......and get us all back to discussing the game we all love, albeit from differing viewpoints, experiences and expectations.

I know that this is a very gracious site to allow us our voices here. I am impressed by the standards of this site and the general decorum and civility of the posters. I really think it could be a very interesting experience, for all who could take part.

Just a thought. (Yes I know I have big brass b**** for a broad to bring this up, but it might just be fun)

    Thanks.

Your consideration to this request will be greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't it then look bad on the part of nyyfans? "You can only have sox GTs when they're losing".

I voted no. In theory it is a good idea but it does have the potential to get ugly (either way).

And I think the answer will be "no" and I want to win something.

With so many sox forums out there, why would you want to "cleanse your pallettes" here, of all places? To accomplish what?

Sorry, bad idea. I hope it never happens.

Re: A request for Red Sox Game Thread???

My fear is it would bring people from other sites that really shouldn't be in here - if they were to hear that NYYFans now has a RS GT.

Also, doing it once would only make RS fans here want to have a Sox GT all the time and that would take away from what this site is really all about - Yankees. Sorry - just my opinon.

    Merry f'ing Christmas

Re: A request for Red Sox Game Thread???

Why not? If Sox fans want to have a game thread here, it doesn't hurt anyone. If people aren't interested, they don't have to view it. As for fears of it getting ugly, potential for that exists on any thread. If it does get out of control, the mods can cancel the experiment.

I'm not keen on this idea. This is NYYFans.com, a website with a Bronx bias and Yankees-related forums and topics. Go to a Red Sox forum to keep up with their games.

Is there absolutely NO Sox website with GT's? Are they all completely lame?? I've never been to any Sox websites so I'm asking sincerely.

No, no, and then no again.

This is a site for Yankees fans. I feel we go above and beyond what other sites would do in allowing fans of another team to have as much of a presence here as they do, and in no way will there be any sort of 'official' or 'sanctioned' Red Sox anything.

I would vote no. You can't help but openly root for your team in a GT. While I make no apologies about being a Sox fan here, I think it could be considered rude to start a thread that essentially cheers for the Sox here.

If you want to participate in a Red Sox GT, there is at least one site mentioned in this thread:

    http://forums.nyyfans.com/showthread.php?t=94648

I believe the SOSH GT being opened to lurkers is a West Coast trip thing due to the late night.

Re: A request for Red Sox Game Thread???

Thanks for the quick responses. No harm asking??? right?

I certainly appreciate the ability to post here and not be subjected to the muck and worse that is prevalent on most all other sites, Red Sox, Yankees, other teams etc.

This site is run in a professional and, not to sound like an snob, but it certainly appears that most people who post here, can read, write, spell, express themselves without profanity, and seem to be well read and educated either through schooling or life experience. Also, at least on the Red Sox Thread, there are some great senses of humor on the board.

    So, nothing ventured, nothing lost----

To Jim F. Thank you, you have been a gentleman in answering my requests, here and on Friday, when I ventured into the Game Thread, I asked first. I appreciate the courtesy and professionalism.

My thought exactly, no offense to our friends from the north, but this is a Yankees site, why would a Yankees site have Red Sox game threads?

I though SoSH banned anyone who ever said anything nice about the Yankees, let alone was a true Yankees fan.

And if SoSH has a Yankees game thread, it would most likely have one for the Red Sox, too. So why do we need one here? Anyone who wants a Red Sox game thread can go to SoSH.

They rarely let Red Sox Fans in over there. I had a look only account, then one day, my sign in and password were no good....I had never posted or answered or anything...

Also, I love baseball, but it really gets a little too esoteric and nasty over there, I've been watching games longer than most of them have been alive, and I had no idea what they were talking about sometimes. They remind me of when I was in College and all the earnest students in the front rows, who tried to out do each other with a never ending series of obtuse and arcane questions....the horror, I am having a 70's flashback....

How about a Red Sox game thread where Yankees fans have no rules while the Sox fans must follow strict rules set forth by aforementioned Yankees fans.

That was "the" defining moment in my baseball life. I was there, and I until that time, was a wide-eyed baseball optimist. I did not set foot into Fenway Park again until June 2, 2005, with my 11 year old daughter.

Also, I am new, so the choices are limited. But I think that moment is a defining moment for many of us over 40 set, more than Buckner, Aaron Boone, etc.
