Big game tonight, don't wanna lose a series.

Huge start for Randy, this is a very good hitting team, they hit for average and power, so this is a great test of what we're gonna see for the rest of the season

IMO, that's what Torre has to say. If Torre went in front of the cameras and said something along the lines of, "Randy is washed up and he has nothing left to contribute to the team," then it would be in all the newspapers and the lead story on SportsCenter. He's just saying that to protect his player. As for how Torre really feels, well only he knows.

He's gone 10 2/3 innings without a single K, the last time he went 3 starts without any was his rookie year....

I'm more concerned with runs allowed than whiffs. What if he fanned 8 guys, but walked 5 and hit 3? Then what?

Put it all into a blender and if he has 7 innings, 2 earned runs, I couldn't give a flying poop what the other stuff is. Just win the game, dammit!!!

He's the only starter for whom I don't have AB music. I play the AB music for when the guys come up to the plate... it's sad, really. I even have most of the pitchers

Personally, I'm not a big fan of AB music. I like the heavy bass in Giambi's tho. Even the kids dance to that stuff.

Still, it was an open mike, so I had to get my cheesy joke in.

In general I would agree. and let's be clear: I want RJ to be effective for us. What scares me is, unlike say Wang, an effective RJ has always needed the Ks. As I've said before, if he can't get them with his old strategy, he needs to start learning to compensate... yesterday....

I don't memorize dates, but from what I've noticed about RJ, after his back has barked, he's gotten shelled, the following game, even if he went 6-7 innings, he wasn't dominating. Perhaps 3 K at most, but he worked in & out of trouble. Certainly not as much trouble as Wright the other day, but he avoided a few disasters.

It was like the next start that he was on his hi-K game. If he gives me a good game where he keeps the score low, the number of whiffs is immaterial to me. I'm all about the pudding, not about the ingredients.

The only looks he could do for me is getting whiplash watching balls fly over the fence. Other than that, I wanna see him cry like a baby tonight.

He's gone 10 2/3 innings without a single K, the last time he went 3 starts without any was his rookie year....
I understand that, but he still has to protect his players when talking to the press, no matter how bad they may be performing.

Totally agree, we have no choice... RJ remains a 'dominating starter', no matter what happens...we just hold our breaths and hope for the best each outing...

I hope he's fun to watch also. By the 4th inning, I hope he's gone.

Wow, I didn't know taking the field was firework inducing... I mean, it's so amazing that it happens every game, but still.

The real question, do they set them off when they take the field in every inning, or just the first?
