Maybe Fatcesa can finally stop whining about the Yanks trading for McClouth.

Our deal for Nick Swisher is really starting to backfire for the White Sox. They will DFA Wilson Betemit:

glad to hear tclip is doing well, i always liked him, although we all know how much his value was really overhyped.

and to the steaks comment, haha.

upton is going to be a beast, but i think everyone has known that since day 1, there's a reason he was chosen the number 1 over other ballers such as gordon, zimmerman, braun, et al. man that draft was stacked....

edit tulowitzki, mccutchen, maybin, bruce, rasmus... had to add more names just for effect. almost makes me cry that we came away with C.J. Henry in that draft

the mclouth trade: i think the braves had to give up a good amount to get him since with his current production, age, etc he was probably more valuable than jason bay was when he was traded. but if you look at the guys the braves gave up, the best of the lot was probably hernandez who is still so far away that its hard to say that it was stupid to give him up. smart move for bucs, especially considering that it freed up a lot of cash and they had mcutchen ready to step in and get a shot and they got some good pieces.

We got Abreu for him and then got him back. It's not really a wasted pick when we got a really good player for a few years in Abreu

I would have loved to see the Salem-Frederick game today. 2008 First rounders Casey Kelly and Brian Matusz faced each other and both pitched six shutout innings. Kelly didn't allow a hit in his second start in High A.

Now top pitching prospect Michael Ynoa, the 17-year-old sensation from the Dominican Republic, is out of action because of elbow soreness.

Lars Anderson's numbers don't look superior at AA Portland. Would people still take him over Austin Jackson at this point?

Because we have Tex in the majors and need AJax next season I would take AJax over Lars for sure.......Prospect wise they are probably very close, with a slight edge to Lars.

I haven't seen any posting with him signing with anyone but I would be surprised if the Cards didn't take a flier on him. For league minimum he would be Duncan's greatest reclamation project if he could get him straightened out but I think his problems are more in the head then anything else.

All in the head for sure. I too could see Duncan working his magic with him. Mazzone failed so I was thinking maybe Marty could get through to him with a Latin flair...An arm like that is a terrible thing to waste!!

Yeah, I really thought Bmore had something on their hands with this guy, tall pitchers usually take a few years but the stuff was electric. What a waste of talent.

I'd definitely sign Cabrera if he'd accept a trip to the minors.

    Re: Another team's prospects thread

Since were going into a 3 game series in Boston, I took the time to watch Daniel Bard pitch in a few games and I have bad news. His stuff is electric, this isn't Fransworth (all velocity) and he can go 2 innings at a time. Control seems to be ok but a future with Bard and Papelbon could mean game over after 6 or 7 innings ala Rivera and Wetteland. I'm sure we will see him in the series and all can see for themselves. Not good.

If it's any consolation, I don't really see Papelbon returning after his current contract is up.

Game over? Aren't we a little too quick to anoint Daniel Bard? Are you Peter Gammons?

Any game that Papelbon finishes is never over.

Did you miss the part when I said "could". Just being a realistic Yankee fan, hard thing to do it seems. Anyway, he has a very good arm.

That can be said about any closer today but a career 1.87 ERA is not too shabby.

Anyone know where Daniel Cabrera went since being release by the Nats?

I'd love to take a flyer on him if he'd accept a trip to the minors.

I just read Wade Townsend is ready to retire after a slew of arm injuries. Boy who would think that He ,Humber and Niemann all of the famed Rice rotation would all be 1st rd busts? You never know with pitchers...

To be fair, Niemann still has a chance to be a solid starter in the majors. Maybe not an ace like he was projected but I don't think a #3 starter is out of the question.

LOL, yeah.... From the time he was drafted, he always reminded me of spanky from the little rascals.

Wasn't there a buzz that pitchers at Rice were overused? I guess that buzz will get a little louder now

Maybe teams need to keep track of "Pitcher Abuse Points" before drafting guys - to factor in potential injury risk

Yes there was talk about how they were used but that will give Wade an out I guess but Niemann and Humber seem to have other issues other then health.

He plays for GCL Atlanta. He is from Venezuela and already has 4HR.
