"I see Jesus Montero as a potential once-in-a-generation force on offense."
I guess this was an epic failure...

Interesting comments about Kelly in BA.
He sounds like a right-handed Man-Ban stuff-wise, yet Kelly is rated so highly by BA.The 20-year-old Kelly's fastball, which sat at 89-91 mph in 2009, became a consistent 92-94 mph offering and touched 96 in his last start with Portland. His curveball, meanwhile, became a potential strikeout pitch.
"He takes the mound with big league stuff every time out," general manager Theo Epstein said. "He's a guy you have to look beyond the numbers for.
"Some days he's got a plus curveball. Some days he's got a plus changeup. Sometimes his fastball command isn't as locked in as he needs it to be. He's learning how to pitch without it, without his best stuff on given days."

that statement wasnt by BA, it was by Alex Speier a red sox beat writer. insert grain of salt, lets see some consensus with people besides the red sox organization.
seems pretty backwards that his stuff got that much better yet he got worse
"Montero hasn't delivered completely on his raw power, but he's close to projecting as an 80 hitter with 80 power on the 20-80 scouting scale"-BA

I like how they cite him but guys like KLaw, Frankie, Teale are uncreditable and "probably aren't using radar guns"Originally Posted by bmxstreetrider86

oh my bad, I wasn't able to view it just thought they were citing it.

Nice write up on Nick Franklin http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index...storic-season/
Got to admit when they drafted him I went, who?

It speaks volumes about credibility when you resort to citing the TEAM'S GM as a source for the guy's stuff. What do you think the GM is going to do- trash his best trade chip???Originally Posted by Yankees1962
The fact that he couldn't even cite to the scouting director or manager should say more than what Epstein said.

Take a look at how loaded that system is... They just added Pat White to the mix as well.
A well balanced system. Loaded in both pitching and hitting.Originally Posted by TheHugeUnit2

Reminds me of the Rays a few years ago- large numbers of high end guys coming up together. They have some parts now to mix with this group of guys (Grienke, etc.) that if they can wait about 3 years, could be a really formidable opponent.Originally Posted by kan_t

Red Sox fans over at SP are thinking up trades for Billy Bulter, stuff like Reddick, Bowden, etc for him. I said the same thing though, in 3 years if they keep Butler and Grienke and make one smart f/a move they could be a force.Originally Posted by Matsui55
