I'm glad to see the results of this poll. From reading the threads on this site on a daily basis you might expect a 70% majority for actually trading him. So 73% saying no way really makes me feel better about the intelligence of baseball fans.

I would never trade one of the top 15 players in the history of baseball. ARod is one of them.
Anyone thinking about trading A-Rod has no clue what this guy can mean to our beloved Yankees. I bet if he were to get some real protection in the 5 slot his hitting woes would diminish.
Exactly, that is the type of talent we're talking about. He is going to be top 5 ALLTIME in HRs, RBIs, Runs, etc.Originally Posted by Rocketman

Mine is a mix of 2 and 3. I would NEVER want to trade him because I still think he's a great player and trading a future HOF'er like him is ridiculous. However, I think it may be inevitable that he eventually will be traded from here. Not saying it's going to be this year, but I just have a hard time thinking he's going to remain here for good.
Same here. I used to think Damon and Billy Ray Cyrus were seperated at birth.Originally Posted by dabomb2045

No, I think he'll be fine, and it would be pretty much impossible to do anyway.
If we were offered Rolen, plus 2 top level pitching prospects, than yea.
But in reality that's not going to happen, and there's no way we find a team that:
1. Will give us equal value in return.
2. Be able to take his contract.
I support Arod, but that's not the problem, he's gotten plenty of pitches to hit.Originally Posted by AJW

I think Arod is the least of Cashman's worries. He needs to figure out how to get rid of Wright and Chacon. And if Dotel, Pavano, Matsui, and Shef will come back..

I voted No, he's a HoFer. I definitely want A-rod on this team, although I don't want him playing in the field for a while when cano comes back.
Congratulations Mike Mussina on your 20th win!
No Way!

I think i figured out why Arod is in such an apocalyptic slump, He doesn't have the kind of backup like he did at the end of last year. What i am trying to say is that i think that he gets so nervous in pressure situations with runners on or something like that because he doesn't have the type of hitters to make people forget about his strikeout or watever in those situations. Like if we have sheff and hideki back and have Giambi and Matsui hitting behind Arod, i don't think he would get to afraid of having to carry the team on his back because he has such great hitters helping him out behind and infront of him and he doesn't exactly have the hitters behind him to get the go ahead hit that Arod couldn't get in pressure situations. Just a thought.

Thank you. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that highly of him.Originally Posted by Rocketman

But I do think AROD is fed up with the booing and media scrutiny.. I think he'll eventually ask for a trade.. imo
Q: What is every baseball player's goal?
A: To play on a team that wins the World Series.
Q: With what team does A-Rod have the best chances of accomplishing this goal year after year?
A: The New York Yankees.
For Alex to play on any other team would mean a complete waste of his talents, not to mention playing 162 games that would be the equivalent of six months of mental masterbation, i.e., a complete waste of time. It would be a mortal sin to even think of trading him because there aren't five players that combined match up to his abilities nor his potential.
This is how we weed out the true and blue Yankee fans from the johnny-come-latelys. Remember the "dark" years between '79 thru '95 without any WS wins? I bet I was the only kid I knew who went around wearing Yankee apparel. Then all of a sudden, between '96 and '00, they win four WS, and everybody and their brother is wearing Yankees stuff. You go up to these guys - or ladies - and half of them won't know who they played last night.Originally Posted by iWant27

You mention one of their players or show me a highlight of one of their games on the tube and my heart rate goes through the roof. I can be sitting here online reading about last nights game or going through the box score, my wife can come in to ask me something and she might as well be talking to the back of a brick wall (she's a fan, also, so it's all good).
Stay True.

Hey, it would be easier to root for them as they seem to be more popular than Alex.Originally Posted by jlw1980

I would want two major league stars and a few top prospects in return for AROD, i.e Carlos Zambrano and Derek Lee from a team like the Cubs who are one of the few that can support AROD's salary.
"I would rather die on the field as a Yankee than go anywhere else," said Rodriguez, who vowed to reject any trade offer with the no-trade clause in his contract.
"Jesus Montero is a stud," one evaluator wrote in an e-mail. "One of the best young hitters I've ever seen, period."
I voted for no way, but people should realize that this is all moot. He has a full no-trade clause and would veto a trade.
“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.”
If he keeps playing the way he is at Yankee Stadium his wish might be granted...Originally Posted by ICEBERG18

No, it isn't BS. Thankyouverymuch. I guess I should qualify it. I couldn't root for them as individuals. I loathe their showboating. I'd have to root for them as part of the team, but I'd rather not. I love A-Rod here. People need to realize just what we have in him.Originally Posted by ppa79

Yes it is. Because you would root for them because you want the team to succeed. I bet you rooted for Roger Clemens everytime he pitched for the Yankees. How do you feel about Johnny Damon? I bet you want him to get a hit everytime he comes up to bat because if he does that he will help the team win.Originally Posted by jlw1980

I never loathed Johnny when he was in Boston. I hated what he did against the Yankees, but I didn't hate him as a player. In fact, I kind of liked him. He was one of the few Red Sox players I could stand.Originally Posted by ppa79

If by rooting for individuals you mean not rooting for them outside of baseball, then I misunderstood. But on the field you will root for Manny or Ortiz to get a hit or HR everytime out because it essentially helps the team.Originally Posted by jlw1980

No way I would let a bunch of spoiled, unreasonable fans and media
dictate who we have on our team.
These "fans" aren't fans of baseball...they're fans of hype, feeding frenzy's, and causing as much chaos as possible.
ARod is one of the all-time greats...we're lucky to WITNESS him, never mind
having him actually play for us.

It's turned into a manic state of ridiculous BS. People are "trendy" for bashing this guy. The reigning MVP, BTW. You old-time Yankee fans must remember the Horace Clarke/Gene Michael/Jerry Kenney/Ron Woods Yankees of the late 60's and early 70's.
Imagine if some of these '96ers fans had seen that team...and had internet access too? Wow....the btching would be unbelievable.

As to Alex, I'll keep 'im, letting the boo birds learn to be fans of the *GAME* as well as the team, which obviously includes the players.

Arod needs an intervention or an exorcism if it will help him snap out his demons. A group hug might just do the trick. No, I don't want to see him in another uniform but pinstripes.
I Live For This!
I voted for the second option. Unfortunately, the media and in turn many fans are making the Yankees into The A-Rod Show. Every day, there's an A-Rod update. IMO, this is not good for team chemistry & seemingly not good for A-Rod either. It shouldn't be 24 + 1. This whole thing taking on a life of its own.
Unless something drastic happens, I just don't see this going in a positive direction for the team....."Last-Year's MVP" or "Future Hall-Of-Famer" notwithstanding.
I'm so tired of this whole thing....![]()
