Perez is finished, that's a good thing. You think Joba is bad, Perez is 10 times the head case

You have to wonder though if the fact that the Wilpons dissed their history and built a shrine to the Dodgers had anything to do with the team being cursed...

Don't jinx him lol. Though pretty much everyone else (or maybe literally everyone else) that we had participate in the WBC got hurt.

Precisely. Call it the curse of the New York Giants, if you will.

That is just plain weird - no two injuries are the same. Pretty soon whoever is sticking pins in the vodoo doll is going to run out of places to jab.

I came soooo close to throwing something in there like that.

Seriously, they should just shutdown the whole team for the rest of the year before they have to forfeit a game. If I was still on the active roster, I'd be scared to death right now.

MIAMI—In a sudden end to a trying year, the Mets' Jeff Francoeur lined into a rare centuple play against the Florida Marlins Wednesday, which by rule cut New York's season short. "I hit it on the screws, but it just happened to be in a spot where they could turn a hundred," said Francoeur, who watched helplessly as Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla tagged everyone in the Mets dugout before heading into the clubhouse and tagging both equipment manager Charlie Samuels and physical therapist John Zajac. "You take a risk by starting the runners but I didn't think he'd have enough time to run up to the executive suite and get [Mets GM] Omar [Minaya] and [team owner] Fred [Wilpon]. I guess by the 80th out we'd all just given up." This was the most outs recorded on a single play since the 2004 Montreal Expos were eradicated from the league after hitting into an ∞-play.

Has to suck to have a new park and little hope. Eff 'em. Most Mets fans are annoying, jealous, obsessive, Yankee-hating, Sox-loving turds, with an inferiority complex, anyway.
I couldn't agree more with everything you said. A reorganization would be the best for the Mets at this point, but you know what, I'm afraid both Omar and Jerry will be back next season because the Wilpons will blame the failure of this season on the injuries. That's the difference between the Yankees and the Mets right there; when the Yankees make a mistake they look for a solution, when the Mets make a mistake they look for excuses. That's why the two teams are what they are.

And BTW it's very true about Mets fans too. Obsessed with hating the Yankees because their team doesn't give 'em much to cheer about. I don't know about the Sox-loving part though, they only love 'em when they play the Yanks. At least that's the case here in CT; since the Sox are also considered a local team, the Mets fans are jealous of them too. But not as much as the Yankees.

Re: The New York Mets Thread

I don't think most fans are "obsessed" with the Yankees. (At least not in the way that I've seen Phillies fans obsessed with the Mets). Yeah a lot of them don't like 'em, but its not like they spend very much time talking about them. There are hardly any Yankee threads on the Mets forums I visit. And I know a good amount of Mets fans that couldn't care less about the Yankees, and some that dislike Boston a lot more than they dislike the Yanks. Personally I don't care much about either team. Though sometimes its all relative to where you live. I disliked the Yankees a lot more back when I was living in NY and was surrounded by obnoxious Yankees fans who's idea of intelligent baseball discussion was screaming "26 baby, 26!!", now that I don't live there, they are basically just another team to me.

No... Really. The Yankees should buy the Mets. A virtual 50 man roster. Close by. It would be great. Melky in a little slump, trade him to the Mets for a couple of days until he snaps out of it. You tell Cano he must hustle down the line on every at bat... or it's off to a little "jail" time in Flushing. We could have Santana, Phil & Joba.

Think of the possibilities. At the very least, we could class up that organization.

Well, their explanation is that there are more teams with instructional camps in the DR than in Florida, and that by moving they'll have more other teams for their guys to play against than they will in Florida (apparently with the Cards and Marlins eliminating their Florida instructional camps, there aren't any teams within 100 miles of the Mets facility). Seems like a pretty reasonable move.

In and of itself, its plausible, but when you couple this with the reports that the Mets are going to call up a very limited number of minor leaguers tmrw because they don't want to pay out too many 70k roster bonuses, you have to wonder....

Wright came back tonight. Wearing that new helmet. Francoeur was right it is pretty ridiculous looking... but hey if it really is safer thats all that matters.

Wow, when the Times ran the article about it, the picture they had just looked like a regular helmet with more padding. Seeing it on a guy's head, it really does like pretty silly.

Jeez...poor guy. I wonder if they'll make Wright wear this helmet for the rest of the season.
