Who cares.
Remember all those bad calls in the beginning of the year? (You must there were an awful lot)
This was just a small step towards evening the bad calls out.
If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.
i agree but espn didnt even show those calls in the highlights or even come close to mentioning them. but that call vs the pirates last year was played for a week straight. i dont care but im just pointing out the bias.Originally Posted by JDPNYY

Even though it was the wrong call, it was a very close call. In real time it definitely looked like a tie and often times when a ball isnt played cleanly and its a close play, the runner gets an advantage. it is unfortunate for the M's that it happened when it did, but that is baseball.
Great. I don't get ESPN.No effect on me.

or in other words: I Dont Care. We Wont, and thats ALL that matters. Tough breaks come a dime a dozen in baseball, on both sides of the fence.
I'm sure we'll be reminded of the play all season, especially if the division or wild card comes down to the last day. Everybody will say that the Mariners would've won the game if they get that call. But that's a flawed argument when that would've only been the second out. The inning could've played out completely different if Jorge is called out. Damon probably changes his approach a little and Putz probably pitches him a little differently when he doesn't need a DP, K or pop out. Of course, we'll never hear anybody on ESPN bring this up. To them, it'll be the game where the Yankees won only because they got a gift call. Whatever. Still counts as a win.

well, on espn radio they always run little SC recap things where they give yesterdays results and todays big news and of course "the yanks had a big win last night over the mariners in large part due to a bad call"

Cold Pizza just did a segment on that call and whether or not the Yankees intimidate umpires. Skip Brainless thinks umpires are intimidated by Yankee Stadium and said most of them probably grew up Yankee fans. Woody promptly mentioned that these bad calls even out over the season. Skip then adds, well not at Yankee Stadium.
I hate Skip Brianless... Woody Paige is such a Yankee Fan... love it!Originally Posted by YanksForLife

Don't get worked up over what others say about the Yankees.
The Yanks have gotten screwed on calls plenty of times this season. How about the 3rd strike call on Matsui against the Orioles? Anyone remember that bad call????
THEEEEEE YANNNKEEEESSS WWINNNNNNN!!!!!
who cares, if you have to look at it a few times on replay it would be hard to judge in real time, it looked very close and a hustling posada and the slip in the grass allowed the play to be close enough to merit the tie goes to the runner "safe" call.
Doin' it again in 2010..
I don't blame them for showing it. It was a very bad call (He was out by at least a half a step, and it's very rare that an umpire misses a call like that in the major leagues-I was shocked that he was called safe because I thought it was obvious that he was out live) that most likely directly led to the Yankees winning a game in very close AL East race. That being said, I didn't lose any sleep over it.You win some that way and you lose some, but when you get a call as bad as that in a spot as big as that, I think you're going to hear about it.

Good thing they spent a week on the Matsui "strikeout" against the O's a few months ago.Originally Posted by Soriambi

What are you talking about with the week? If they're still replaying this call next week, it's too much, but it's still the day after it happened.Originally Posted by Sam18
It would make sense that this would be the day that they would discuss it. I don't remember exactly what kind of coverage the Matsui K got, maybe because it didn't get any, but they probably should have discussed that one the day after, too, because it was pretty bad.

You said when you get a call that bad you're going to hear about it. Funny because we didn't hear sh*t about the Matsui call.Originally Posted by Soriambi

There's usually a big difference in coverage when you're talking about the 15th and 90th game of the season.Originally Posted by Sam18

well why didnt they mention that awful call at 3rd today involving phillips ?? and there is no difference between 15th and 90th game. what a bad excuse. its not like its a game in the last week in september or in the postseason. fact is that regular season breaks that the yankees get, get more attention then postseason breaks other teams get. do you ever hear anybody mention the ridicoulos strike zone that livan hernandez got in the 97 nlcs anymore ??Originally Posted by UncleSam
Anyone see ATH on EPSN today where they talked about if last night's "Yankee Win Was Legit"? I didn't hear what they said because the sound is turned down where I was at.
