Mets hit two grand slams in a single inning

    Floyd and Beltran did it.

How often has that happened? I don't recall it happening recently.

Fernando Tatis did it in 1999.

Quinnipiac did it in the 2005 season, and in the 9th inning to win a game 11-7, or something like that.

Other than that, I dont think I've ever seen that.

I'm looking for it, the only thing I can find is that Fernando Tatis is the only player to hit 2 grand slams in one inning but not sure about different players.

Didn't Renteria do it himself when he was a Card?

Awesome feat. Omar has declared the Mets the World Champs.

Who's that (the SUCK), Curt Schilling? I know he's great, because he says so.

I was going to say something along the lines of "David Ortiz is so clutch, he hit a solo home run one time, but it was so clutch, the umps awarded him two grand slams" but I got somewhat beat to it.

I think there should be a Mets thread. So that there doesnt have to be random threads about things that are going on for the Mets.

I was just on the Yankees website checking scores, and found that this was the seventh time in major league history that this feat has happened, dating back to the 1890's.

Does this say more for the Mets skill or the awfulness of the Cubs as a whole?

David Wright also hit a two run shot after the Beltran slam in the inning.

    Yes.

    Pretty cool to watch, though.
And it's the same year that two players have stolen home.
I'd say it's time for another perfect game! (Go Moose!)

Cubs are just so screwed this year. That inning started off with an error by Todd Walker on a routine grounder to 2nd, and then a pair of bloop singles to load the bases.

Its almost as if the baseball gods are telling the Cubs, "Just because the Red and White Sox broke their curses, don't even think for a second YOU'RE next!"

Gotta feel for their fans, truly.

    The Mets are too awesome.

The cubs offense is equivalent to a team of replacement players.

Are the Cubs challanging the Knicks as the worst franchise in sports?

Ahh, the Chicago Blackhawks...who won't broadcast their home games on TV! (Apprently no one has told Bill Wirtz that it isn't 1947 anymore)

Chicago should be a great hockey town...its a pity the die-hard Blackhawk fans are stuck with Bill Wirtz.

Not even close. It's highly unlikely, but with a couple free agent signings to boost the offense and a healthy Mark Prior (hence, highly unlikely), the Cubs can compete next year. If the Tribune is willing to spend in the Red Sox/Yankees league (also unlikely), the Cubs likely will compete next year.

The Knicks are an embarassment. They had the highest payroll in the league and the second worst record. And they didn't get the draft pick that they earned. And they have no financial flexibility so they're going to be bad again next year.

Here is a Cubs fan's recap of the game Sunday night. Several parts of this commentary cracked me up (I do believe everybody hates Joe Morgan). If we ever forget how good we've got it as Yankees fans, this should remind us:
