A-Rod was a FA Signing by the Yankees?

    Well...Rick Sutcliffe thinks so!

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/s...orthops_060605

When they were winning World Series titles, starting in 1996, the Yankees were not led by players like Jason Giambi, Mike Mussina, Gary Sheffield or Alex Rodriguez, all players who came aboard via free agency....

Hey, anytime he's not professing his man-love for the Red Sox, I'm happy. He can tell me the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, but as long as he doesn't talk about Jason Varitek as the best catcher in baseball, everything's cream cheese with me.

Yea, he has some problems. VERY biased during games and makes really stupid comments

I wish people would realize that all teams in baseball for the last forty years have been signing free agents, not just today's Yankees. And if someone is making a comment about free agency, they should at least get their facts right about who was acquired through free agency and who wasn't.

That's too much work, one that only real journalists do.

Its funny that people can say those guys were homegrown now, but during the Dynasty, the Yankees were accused of buying their championships. I wish the media would make up their minds.

Its amazing that people who are fans or supporters of the Red Sox make the "buying championships" statements when you don't see any home grown players on the Red Sox (none that are all stars)

Does he mention how Jason Varitek should win the MVP?

That article really was terrible. There was no insight or knowledge in it at all. Not to mention he did not even have his facts straight. Just another ESPN Personality providing us with nothing.
Impossible isn't fact. It's opinion. Impossible isn't a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

I catch myself making that same mistake when talking about Yankee aquisitions. But as someone who gets published, mistakes like this are unacceptable.

He said that during the game the other night and I thought my head would explode. Not long after that Melky stole that run when Varitek threw the ball away at 2nd, lol.
