The standard rule is that you put your closer in the bottom of the 9th of a tied game since there will never be a save situation. I don't mind it although this time I'd like to have seen Farnsworth.

That's not the point. The point is you go with your closer/best pitcher in this situation because if you give up a run then you have to face their best pitcher needing to get a run.
