Prediction: Melky goes 3-4 today with a double.
“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.

The question of the night is can this team once again win in spite of the Buddha (Torre).

Also, when will Farnsworth stop getting beat with his 2nd best pitch??

He's been getting beat with his 2nd best pitch since he came a reliever in 2001. This should not come as a suprise to anyone. I told everyone this when the Yankees were romancing him in the offseason. I've watched Farnsworth's entire MLB career since he came up as a starting pitcher with the Cubs in 1999. To say that I am shocked that he has continued this trend would be an understatement.

Nope. Middle of May, school night. Usually, a crowd of around 42,000 tonight.

Late arriving crowd. Will probably be there by the 3rd inning. Traffic is rough out there.

BTW for all of you, I'm trying out different avatars to see which one will stick around for a while. Tell me what you think of them.

We desperately need Chacon to go 6 or 7 innings.

Farns has been getting hit hard by the Rangers and Proctor's arm is going to break off. The last thing we need is a good start to get ruined by Small or Erickson.

Last night they announced 41,000+. I think the tickets are sold, it's a question of whether people are coming out because of all the lousy weather.

Chacon keeping things tense as usual
The Yankees are now 206-1 when Mariano has been asked to protect a four-run lead.

Yep, I sure do. Sign of a weak team with a small ball manager.
I heard this today...Did Coltrane actually exist? This is like being blind for 50 years, regaining sight, and then peering directly at the sun.

Game attendance is based on the number of tickets sold, not the number of people at the Stadium. They'll draw close to 50,000 (as usual).

2 runs may be enough with the awful lineup we have tonight

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

Just about. Same thing happened last week against the Red Sox. Most peeps didnt really get there til the 3rd inning.

    ---

Yankee limit for giving up runs is 3. If the opposing team scores more than 3 runs, the Yanks are going to have a hard time winning.

    2-0 TEX after a half.

I honestly wouldn't care if exery single PA we had was a bunt if our W/L record lead the league. How we win isn't a huge concern to me.

How in the world will our lineup score 3 runs?

Chacon can't afford to have a bad game.
