He is a sox fan so those comments are tongue and cheek.

Gammons also praised the FO for Dotel, and believes he will make a huge impact.
Mastery is identifying the gap and filling it in.
how come when he says something anti-yankees, we call him a jerk, but when he predicts them to win the world series, he is the greatest prophet since Jesus. haha.
What's this "we" stuff? I still think he's a jerk and don't care what he predicts.Originally Posted by YankeeStripes

Wacky Gammo trying a little of the ole reverse mojo.

during the season, gammon will predict a lot of teams winning the WS.
Now we have to start a reverse the gerbil campaign......seriously, maybe the sox asked him to do that to take the preasure off Theo & gang....that was a joke
Gammons could come directly to my house, cook dinner for me, praise my entire family, and clean the soles of my shoe with his tongue, I would still be inclined to take said shoe and force feed it to him.
Wilbon: What is it specifically about Arod that guys like Schill and Trot Nixon just can't stand?
Kornheiser: He's better looking, he's cooler, he's got all the money. That's what they can't stand.
Breaking news: Someone cares about what Gammons says!

He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.
The only person in the media whose opinion I care less about than Gammons' is Lupica.
That means the Yankees are not going to win the World Series since Pete is always wrong.Originally Posted by HouseThatRingsBuild

so he's finally giving the yankees the spot? he owed them this prediction i guess. heh

Who cares?
I liked Gammons (although I don't subscribe to ESPN insider..I am not paying for that network). He certainly is a Red Sox fan but he is fair to the Yankees 95% of the time (why ahead of Lupica's record of being fair .0005% of the time). His trade predictions never come off but I value his judgment.
Francesa had an interesting comment to Gammons' prediction of a Yankee vs Cards world Series. He said "greatest world series I saw as a kid. I have waited 42 years to see a rematch". I am probabbly guilty of thinking a season I saw as a 10 year kid the greatest ever but 1964 should be mentioned. Great pennant race in AL (people forget that), the NL pennant race became legendary with about 5 games left with the historic collapse by Philadelphia. A 7 game world series with some "what-if" turning points, Mantle breaking Ruth's record, the emergence of Gibson. Only a classic game 7 was missing as Stottlemyre and Downing didn't have it. A bunch of great rookie seasons by no one who became a Hall of Famer (Richie Allen, Tony Oliva, Wally Bunker, Jim Ray Hart).
Well I don't know about any of you but I'm not watching baseball this season... We Lost...
WHAT1?!?!!?1 I don't know what to think...

My whole Yankee fan foundation has been shaken to the core! Shaughnessy is his own credible source, which is to say not that credible, but Gammons....he's tricking us I know it.

"God help the rest of baseball." - GM Brian Cashman
I just listened to the audio link on the wfan and I couldn't believe it...His basis for this is he believes the yankee offense will win playoff games and pitching won't be as important as it usually is in this year's playoffs.
I still hate him

Well, whatya know....
He's right, of course....
My theory--even he realizes how much of a favorite we are, and realizes picking against us will make him look even more like a Sox shill (pardon the pun) than he does already.
Or, I guess, he really believed what he said before, and does so now. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
