    Lineups added

I just have to go back and do the dollar amounts...

For HHH - Your DH is "Place Holder" because your robot INSISTED on taking Jeff Francoeur. He is property of the A-Team as a minors keeper.

On Free For All Day, simply add a player and drop "Place Holder".

To everyone -- make sure I gave you all the right players.

Dollar figures are done, and match up with the auction results I was e-mailed. (with the exception of "Place Holder" who has a $10,001 contract for 100 years).

    Eric,

I just wanted to commend you a great job. Yes, the draft is long and a bit tedious, but you did a great job. Thanks again.

Auction drafts a too fun. Especially with the sniper bids that were occurring at 1+ in the moring.

I notice some folks like Rob still had money left. That is patience.

Kind of frustrating....like letting Bonderman go. I had my sights on him in the later rounds, then for some reason quit bidding at $11. Had plenty of loot, but I really forgot about the dollar store bargains at the end.

All in all, it's amazing the difference in price between 1st year and 2nd year auctions. Mota undrafted? Who'da thunk?

The only mistake I was upset at myself about was not going to $21 on Helton. I finished the auction with over $10 to spare, so I could have done it (On top of thee $13 I gave to Gibbons.)

I was completely and totally shocked to see some guys slip through unbid on. I had my guys that I was saving for the bargain basement prices, and some of them got bid up like I had worried, while others went straight through and came to me for $1 or $2.

I have a lot to learn as far as auction strategy goes. Nothing like dropping $22 for Matsui when the next closest bid was 13. ALthough I think my "shock and awe" tactic prevented a situation where the bidding would've kept going up dollar by dollar from $13 to more than $22.

I think there is something to this.

It worked for me with Blalock, even though I wasn't intending to get him coming into the auction. It's kind of the same theory that Cashman used to get Damon.

Make your bid appear to be so much greater than the last one, and it looks too big to immeadiately "Bid +1" on. It makes you think.

I know that it made me think long enough on Helton that I couldn't pull the trigger, whereas I probably would have easily bid up above $20 if it has been going in $1 incriments from a $10 starting point.

I mean, I got Vlad for $38. I remember vividly being in a Bid+1 battle w/ many people for Vlad.

Shock and awe produced Matui at $22. Are you telling me that in a 5x5 league, Vlad is worth not only $38, but 16 dollars more than Matsui?

I remember throwing down very close to that for Pujols last year... makes it tough to field a competitive team when so much payroll is dedicated to one player...

I think Vlad may be worth $16 more than Matsui, actually.

    If not, then it's close.

I had a completely different strategy this year, last year I was clueless as to the auction and ended up winning with mostly Free Agents. Not a very flatering thing, however I think this year I was a lot more patient and intentionally bid up players I had no intention of actually drafting. I wanted a younger, cheaper and more cheap keeper eligible players to carry over with my contracts from this year. I think I accomplished my goal. I may not win this year but I'll be set up for a good run next year I think.

I had the same approach last year, trying to draft young/injured guys with upside cheaply for keeper purposes. I absolutely wanted to win last year, too, but the strategy backfired on me in that regard, because I drafted too much on injury/potential, and not enough on solid production.

The setting me up for the future part worked nicely, though, as I was willing to wait out some guys and build towards this year. I have three guys on my team that I could build around this year and next at or below their market value, which enabled me to throw down the hammer on one year, big contract guys at the auction that I wanted, and also gave me the flexibility to draft $1 keepers for next year as well.

Hopefully things work out better for the Style in 2006...

    Eric,
I know this is probably a "no" but I had to ask. My last pick was autopicked. You guys made the clock so fast, I had like 4 or 5 picks right in a row and had no idea it would happen and I was not prepared. Aaron Harang was taken for me. I was trying to take Kris Benson for $1 but it moved wayyyy too quick. I e-mailed Snatch immediately forgetting he no longer ran the league. Any way you can make that change for me? Again, I was not prepared for having so little time for that many picks right in a row. I hope you understand.

Steve, I completely forgot about your e-mail. Sorry, bro!

E- Steve's e-mail is dated almost immedietly after the auction ended.

I will make the change, ONLY because it was the absolute last pick in the auction, so obviously it was for $1.

You will now see asterisks (*) next to certain players in your lineups. The players with an asterisk are those who you kept for one year in this year's auction, and are therefore ineligible to be kept again in 2007.
