Ticket question regarding wheelchair seats.

Maybe someone here knows the answer to this question --

A friend of mine is looking at purchasing tickets to a game this season. He was going to buy a pair from a season ticket holder who has wheelchair accessable seating. The guy who owns the season tickets is legitimately handicapped, but my friend who is going to buy them and attend the game is not.

Is he going to get in trouble at the stadium, or do the ushers not enforce anything like that?

I just bought a set of 4 tickets on ebay that are ada accessible. Nowhere on the listing did it say that you have to be handicapped to sit in the seats. However, I'm re-thinking my purchase now that I've read this thread. The tix are located in a main reserved section. Anyone care to share their experience(s)? Thx.

Yeah, I see that frequently as well. That's the lowest of the low. I wish Lonn Trost and co. would go after those cowards instead of hunting down season ticket holders who sell their tickets on the internet.

I bought tickets off a guy on ebay once tht had the wheel chair seats. I had no problems what so ever. you get a decent view of the field but the over hang stops you from seeing any high hit balls

just know that the actual cost of thse tickets are really low, they dont raise handicapped seating when they raise other seating.. I paid 100 for two tickets that actually cost abotu 40 bucks total. no big deal

My wife is in a wheelchair. Personally if we ever see anyone at any sporting event who is in wheelchar seating area who is not disabled we get very upset!

No matter how people end up in those seats is irrelevant, those seats are reserved for people with disabilities and that is the bottom line.

Thats because someone on ebay is selling them and not ticketmaster or the yankees. If I was there with my wife who is in a wheelchair, we would be pissed if we saw someone not disabled sitting in those seats.

I bought tickets for Game 4 of the 2001 World Series not realizing that they were Handicapped. I felt horrible so I just kept walking around the stadium changing seats until people came. I actually ended up having nice Main reserved seats from a no-show.

I once bought a pair of tickets off ebay not knowing they were wheelchair accessible seats. I flew from Phoenix to NY just for the game so my 4 year old son could get an experience at the stadium before it was torn down. I was not happy to find out where the seats were when I arrived. And the usher was absolutely horrible about it. We were the only ones in the area for the first half of the game and she would not let my son move up to the glass so he could actually see the game. To this day, that experience left a bad taste in my mouth about the stadium.

I grew up with a father in a wheelchair suffering from MS, we used to see people in wheelchair seats all the time, but it did not upset us, there are more things to worry about. Besides, they might have a reason as I did for having those seats.

If you have tickets to the game and go to the box office inside you can upgrade to the wheelchair seating if they have seats available. And yes, you could sit with her.

Edit: You just have pay for any price difference and it's not guaranteed that the seats are available. You might want to call the Yankees box office and see if they can answer that question.

No, but just because someone isn't in a wheelchair, doesn't mean they don't have a handicap of some kind. It's unfair to be annoyed at people sitting there without a wheelchair when you don't know anything about them.

You are correct but your missing the point. If the yankees let everyone sit in those seats who have handicapped placards it wouldn't be fair to someone in a wheelchair that needs a ticket and the seats are sold out, and that is excactly what would happen. They are called wheelchair seats for a reason.

Its just like when my wife tries to go to walmart and has to leave because all 25 handicapped spots are taken. She cannot just park anywhere because the cars are parked to tightly. Let's be honest, how many of those people can walk a little extra further? People these days think that once they get a little older they need a handicapped permit. No offense to anyone.

The ushers were wrong to seat your sister in the handicapped area. They should have sat her in some other unoccupied seat UNLESS there no unoccupied seats available.

They are listed as wheelchair seats. You can see this online when you buy tickets.
