Just as an aside, and I should be used to this kind of thing by now, but Michael Kay and Bobby Murcer are doing a BRUTAL job on these ST games. A huge part of the charm of watching a spring game is to get a look at the young players, the rookies. What kind of background info, scouting info etc. are Kay and Murcer giving us on these kids? Practically none. A few times I've come back in from another room a few pitches into the inning to find some unfamiliar kid on the mound for the Yankees, and I've had to wait 3 or 4 batters before one of them even mentions the kid's name.
The only rookie they seem to be giving any kind of chatter to is Marcos Vecchionacci, and even then, the banter is pretty much restricted to:
a) Joe Torre loves his defense.
b) Yogi Berra isn't sure if "Vechionacci" is an Italian name.
We're basically getting no low-down at all on these kids, and it's pretty apparent that Kay and Murcer, two guys who no doubt are well-compensated for their work, basically parachuted into these games without doing any real preparation. Great work, guys!
