    2K Sports presents MLB 2K6

Since it seems like every baseball video game lover is mourning MLB MVP Baseball's demise (including myself) or joining in on the NCAA Baseball lovefest I figured I would start a thread on MLB 2K6, the only game which will be on all consoles. The link to the site is here: http://2ksports.com/games/mlb2k6/ which also seems to have pretty neat features packaged with it.

World Baseball Classic™ Mode - The epic new international baseball tournament is exclusively captured – all sixteen teams, logos, and uniforms, as well as the authentic all-world tourney structure

“Inside Edge™ - Three years of actual scouting reports and analysis literally built into every player, every pitch, and every swing of the bat.

Pitcher - Batter Showdown - A revolutionary breakthrough in batting control coupled with a new and intuitive pitching interface and truly accurate and individual player behavior brings the pitcher batter experience to a new level.

Swing Stick™ - Analog stick batting brings baseball video games to a new level. Control power swings, check swing and bunts all through simple and intuitive analog controls.

Pure Motion Physics - An all-new physics engine brings running, throwing, fielding, tag outs, and player-to-player collision animations to life with more detail and variation than ever before.

Umpire Challenges - Stand up for your team and challenge close calls when they count the most. Feel the heat of the moment with new, interactive umpire challenges that have a direct affect team morale and performance.

V.I.P. (Virtual Identity Profile) - The popular 2K Sports exclusive feature is now available in our MLB franchise! Save your friends’ profiles to compete when they’re not available! Learn their tendencies, moves, & logic for more heated battles. Get the upper hand in online tournaments by downloading other players’ VIP profiles.

Flashback Highlights (XBox™, XBox 360™ and PlayStation®2 with HDD) - Relive key moments in the game as big plays and at-bats will be recalled at the end of innings and subsequent key at-bats.

Player Morale System - Successful team decisions and well-balanced team brings optimal performance to the field and the plate. Your team’s morale now hinges on every franchise move you make at any time in the year.

The Online Experience - 2K Sports continues to lead the online gaming revolution as Major League Baseball® 2K6 brings you seamless online play and the most comprehensive online feature set anywhere including online stat tracking, buddy lists management, and online leagues.
I just noticed that the game will feature player collisions. It seems that 2K Sports has covered all the bases (corny pun intended ) and that they may turn out a solid game. If it's shipped without glitches than this may be better than 989's MLB '06. Besides it's my only option for a baseball console game and I strongly miss baseball so I'm hyping myself up for this.

I will rent it for sure when it comes out. I am pretty satisfied with playing MVP 05 until they are able to get a license again though. I am pretty interested in the physics engine of this game, in the past games of this series some things didnt seem right with line drives and what not. I could care less for the WBC mode though.

MVP 2005 Roster Updates through internet connection...

this looks like Bases Loaded for the original Nintendo

I'm playing MVP 2005 as we speak...having a gamecube, and being a sick bastard, I have been updating the rosters myself during the offseason.

Re: 2K Sports presents MLB 2K6

I do that too. Updating rosters manually though (I don't play online) is irritating. My Robinson Cano looks like a skinny Barry Bonds because he had to be created, and having to update ratings for everything takes way too long. I love 2005 and still play it, but I just can't see myself constantly paying attention to every little move in the minors just to keep that up to date because I want everything near perfect. I'll just shell out the money and end up getting it. As an added bonus I don't have to see Manny Ramirez graphics when the game starts up either.

Definitely, I especially like how they address all questions even if they're critical of their past games problems.

Re: 2K Sports presents MLB 2K6

I'm looking forward to the game. If last years glitches get taken care of, this could be a really good game.

I just hope the Slamzone feature is disabled or optional online. One hiccup in your internet connection and your opponent had a gimme HR.

not too impressed with the graphics, especially with regards to player likenesses......but if that's the only bad thing about it then I'll probably pick it up.

If you say it's kinda hard on MVP mode and you just got it then you must be a sports console gaming god. I always have to work my way up the difficulties!

Get in the game! While playing the CPU is ok, there's nothing better than playing a human opponent across the country, you have RJ out there thowing heat they can't touch, then you strike them out with the splitter in the dirt and sometimes they pull the CAT5 (or 6) cable in disgust (well, that kind of sucks). I generally do not use a headset as most people don't have anything important to say and 10 year olds get on my nerves crying about pitching only in the strikezone.

I'd use a headset, but as far as strike zone whining is concerned, slap the whiny kid.....somehow. Explain that pitching outside tests their plate discipline. Get a freaking walk! Geez.

EB Games shows a release date of 3/20 for Xbox and PS2. Gamecube and Xbox 360 on 4/10.

This is latest they put out their baseball game in a while. Hopefully this has something to do with getting the gameplay and online features right as opposed to the rush job to beat EA to the market last year.

Re: 2K Sports presents MLB 2K6

I got MLB 06 on Thursday. I like it. Feels very realistic, except the commands that have been created for the L and R buttons (for PS2) take a little while to getting used to. But I like all the game modes, very good franchise mode. Pitching meter is similar to MVP's, but harder to get used to IMO. After you take a pitch, the way the batter reacts (like how he gets out of his stance, adjusts, etc.) is really accurate for each separate guy. That's what I like about it, it flows well and feels very realistic. Once you can master the pitching meter, which like I said is similar to MVP but harder, then you can really appreciate the game.

Is there a definitive release date anywhere? I see different dates on various sites, and there isn't a release date on 2K Sports' site.

I believe it's the 20th or 21st. I haven't even seen commercials on TV for it, though, so who knows.

I'm dying for this game to come out. I'm in my 23rd season of my Yanks dynasty in 2K5 so it's all fictional players now. One funny thing throughout the dynasty was that Bubba Crosby eventually becomes a 100 rated player. Well anyway I hope it's out soon.

Last year they were horrible. They're still bad, but you're right, I'll take gameplay over likenesses any day.

On MVP last year I would play one game of every series, though sometimes I'd sim an entire Royals or D-Rays series. Takes a while.

Nah man, that's cheap! For me it takes forever, but I always play the entire season although I MAY sim a game here and there or manage one at least. Very rarely, except the Minor League teams I always sim those until they win or manage them, rarely do I play them. It's even more rare that I sim the Major League games.

Re: 2K Sports presents MLB 2K6

I usually sim most games and only play the ones I am losing in the 7th inning or later in MVP05. I've built a pretty nice Yankees dynasty. If this game is anything to go on, expect Prince Fielder to win the MVP 1n 2011-2013, especially with his left handed swing in the Bronx

Well, now it seems that the release has been pushed back to April 10th.
