"Anti-Globalization" Protesters Grab Olympic Torch From Italian Track Star

ROME (AP) -- Four protesters briefly grabbed the Olympic torch from Italian track star Eleanora Berlanda as the relay passed through the Italian town of Trento on Monday.

The protesters known as "the disobedient ones'' -- demonstrators associated with the anti-globalization movement -- nabbed the torch and relay escort runners took it back, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

These anti-globalization protesters annoy the hell out of me. Most of them don't even understand the issue they're protesting.

The disobedient ones need to spend some time in a corner.

These are probably the same morons who didn't quite see the irony in their packing into a Starbucks when it started raining during a protest in Washington.

During a WTO function here in Miami, a group of protesters held signs proclaming "No Borders". And they were interviewed on local TV saying they were against the trade and "globalization" talks.

    I kid you not.

A lot of the anti-globalization protesters -- the ones who spend their lives traveling from meeting to meeting so they can riot in the streets -- are just troublemakers. Which is too bad for the serious, issues-based folks who actually can articulate their positions without violence...and stupid signs.

These anti-globalization protesters invade DC every year during the IMF meetings. I remember a couple of years ago they had this “elaborate” scheme to stop the meetings by blocking a van carrying World Bank personnel. The World Bank people outsmarted the protesters by sending a decoy van out first and of course the protesters all surrounded the van to impede its progress. A few minutes later the real van carrying the World Bank employees drove right past the crowd completely unabated. I laughed my ass off when I saw that on the news.

The Olympics are turning more and more into a sponsored event that also features some sports. Where are the days that a Jamaican bobsled team could enter or a Spanish speed skater that got doubled three times in a race?

I feel sorry for the Italian track athlete though.

What really gets me about them is GW displacing their students so these dropouts have a place to stay. I would first remove my kid from the school and then I would sue the daylights out of them.
