    Baseball comes to Vietnam

With the help of RHP Danny Graves, MLB's only Vietnam-born player. I thought this story was fascinating.

    http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9177474

The dirt and sand covered field cost $50,000 to convert from an old soccer field with money donated from Major League Baseball and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, which is sponsoring Graves' 10-day trip.

Part of the money was spent clearing unexploded ordnance from the field in an area where leftover remnants of the Vietnam War continue to kill and maim.
In all, 17 explosives of varying types, overlooked when the soccer field was built, were removed between home base and the outfield.

Very cool. I didn't know that there were any MLB players of Vietnamese origin.

That is pretty neat, good for Graves. He has gotten some bad press lately.

Great story, especially nice to know that a bunch of mines were removed as well. Can you imagine playing soccer on an active minefield? It's a terrible thought obviously.

Here's another story, from MLB.com just before Graves's trip ... with a better picture.

You can't play tennis with a baseball glove!

Oh, wait, the headband threw me off.

So is he half-Vietnamese or was he just born there? I'm too lazy to click anything. Someone spoon-feed me.
