It was really good with the pork.
I have to say it makes the tastiest gravy and the meat was very tender and yummy.

Ok, now here's the hard question...

What cut of pork did you use?

It's 9 in the morning and I'm already looking forward to dinner. I have some apple pomegranate bread that is going to become french toast with thick sliced apple smoked bacon.

Mr. LDG is making lasagna tonight.

I'm doomed for February. Whenever he's home this regularly, there's no escape! Just this week, have "going out to dinner with" on the calendar for tomorrow, Friday AND Saturday.

I'm not sure. It was a pork loin I think. It was too big for the crock pot, so I cut it in half and froze the other half for another time. It's meant to be cut into boneless chops I think.

    Sounds good.
I still have no idea. Shannen is working and Nick is at a friend's house. Hub is on his way home and I don't feel like cooking.

Re: What's on the menu this evening?

Boiled meat. I picked up 2 thingies of goat meat (yeah, I'm sure y'all are kicking down the door fer that one), then some ox tail and some beef stew. Tossed 'em into the dutch oven w/pre-made gravy and some onions. I did some chicken legs like that also.

I'll need to make some rice, but the stuff tasted pretty good.

I picked up lots of lettuce (romain, green leaf, red leaf), then some mushrooms (no, not THAT kind), carrots, broccoli. This week's salads should be kickin' ... and finga lickin' ...

Got some Oatnut bread, so my triple-deckers should be interesting. I already have some mayo, creamy horse radish and mustard. I just need a wee bit more deli meat.

I used the electric grill to make some chicken breast. I should've gotten the thinner cut, since the one I got was slightly too thick.

    Trail mix rocks!!!

i'm gonna start with some white fish (any filet will do...tilapia, flounder, etc).

then i add it to a pyrex casserole. pour olive oil on top. salt, pepper. chopped fresh tomatoes. feta crumbled all over it. some herbs like oregano and basil.

then i bake it at 350 for a half hour or so.

    yum.

Sounds yummy. I have some tilapia that I am going to make, probably tomorrow but I'd have to buy tomatoes and feta.

I bet it could be made with chicken breasts too.

    That does sound good, XXLTaco.

We went out tonight and I had a dish of edamame, a Philadelphia Roll, and we split cold noodles and sesame paste. Soooo good.

I had pizza tonight too. I'm totally craving some lemon chicken or teriyaki chicken, maybe sweet & sour chicken. IDK. Something chicken. Or maybe beef & broccoli. We'll see.

I think that Ryan and Vicki think I'm just putting meat into hot water. Meats like goat, oxtail and others take well to pressure cookers, crock pots, dutch ovens. Do they think I don't use gravy, onions, steak sauce, spices, etc?

I need to make some more corned beef. That at least uses plain water, but with several meat spices, and likely some oil.

Pretty much. I dunno I guess they prepare it a certain way with a particular sauce & that's why he orders beef only.

Re: What's on the menu this evening?

I just ordered breakfast @3am from the local diner this morning (eggs, home fries, turkey sausage). I'll just make a salad and sammich w/grilled chicken breast, deli cold cuts.

I'll make both smaller, since I'm eating more trail mix than anything else. However, a bag of trail mix costs $1.99 (and I usually have at least 3 of them), but a head of lettuce costs either 99¢ or $1.49. *sigh*

At least nuts are healthy, don't spoil.

I just made 3 batches of oatmeal cookies and I think I ate half the batter.

I'm sick from all the batter I put away today. The recipe says it makes 4 dozen. I'm lucky if I got 2 dozen out it.

What? So whatever did the kiddies eat?

I'm trying out a few thingies. I'm mixing a few cookies (short bread, chocolate chip, cream sandwich) in one plastic thingy, then some salty chips (tater chips, plantain chips, corn chips), just to offset the regular stuff.

Instead of buying stuff to add onto the salad, I just bought soup. Whatever's in the salad should already be plenty.

I only ate one of the turkey kielbasas yesterday morning, so I "toasted" the other in the toaster oven. That works well for beef bacon (drains out tons of fat), and both beef bacon and the kielbasa were toasted. Add a little pepper turkey, some muenster cheese, romaine and red leaf, and my sammich was complete.

Soup was veggy green pea. So tough choosing from that, chicken noodle and cream of turkey.

    Wot-evah.

You want to hire a hot chick to cook for me? I'll pay you with your choice of Ryan, Jamie, or bigwampum.

I think that Sam prefers you actually.

So far, my muenster cheese experiment is working. It's working fine in my turkey kielbasa, pepper turkey and beef bacon sammich. Wow, that's a lotta jive turkey.

I don't have much cheese, but ... my co-workers haven't run off on extended lunch breaks. I hear that the Army Surplus store near is isn't have a sale on these things (I think that Sam or AJ is the model pictured here):

I hope to talk JP into getting Chinese food tonight - I do need soup because I have a cold and I could really go for beef & broccoli.

It won't be long until no meat on Friday, so I'm thinking hot dob sandwiches.
