    Cuba back in the WBC

The Treasury dept relented, and Cuba will be allowed to participate in the WBC.

It's the right move, but the Treasury Dept. caved under international pressure, not because Cuba was convincing. Good news is that George can grab some defectors while they're playing here.
    Let the kids play.

Crap. I was hoping they'd keep the ban up, and that somehow they'd have to cancel this stupid thing.

I always thought that this was inevitable. Happy to see that Cuba is in. I hope that they make the semi-finals so I can see them in person.

Well if there has to be a WBC then I'm glad that Cuba is in it because they have some serious talent over there.

it will be interesting to see how Cuba does in this tournament. Yes, for years they dominated international competitions...but remembered it was only against amateurs.

The program isnt as strong as it once was (we beat them in the 2000 Olympics with a cast of minor leaguers)...and now they will be going up against MLB players.

I dont see how they have any shot of beating the USA, DR, Venezuela or PR

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):

    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

I think that they would lose 7 game series to all of those clubs, but anything can happen in one game, and Cuba will be playing as hard or harder than any team there.

Settle everything on the field. If the Olympics were here, they would be allowed to attend so why not the WBC?

It's going to be hard, but not impossible. I'm sure the Cuban government will be sending a bunch of their goons to prevent players from doing so.

Re: Cuba back in the WBC

I have been against the WBC from the get go. But if the games have to happen, then this decision was a good one. It would have been a travesty to exclude them since they have dominated international competition and deserve to be there.

I just wonder, if this whole thing is so stupid how come so many major leaguers are playing in it? Get over yourselves people.
