    2006 Baseball Video Games

I just found out that EA Sports isnt making MVP 2006. I'm so pi$$ed, I loved that game. Every spring I look forward to buying he new edition. Well since thats out of the question, does anyone have any suggestions on what game looks the best this year? I almost bought High Heat in 2003, until I played MVP. That was a pretty nice game. I also was a big fan of the MLB series under 989 Sports in the late 90's, but haven't played any of those games in a while and don't know what it's like now.

Yeah I thought the topic deserves a new title. Maybe they all can be merged or something.

Yes, 2k6 is going to be so awsome.....that will prolly be the best MLB game out there. I have NBA 2k6 and that make it look so realistic, so im expecting high things for their baseball game.
I also was pissed that MVP 2006 wont be comming out, that game was really awsome. I cant believe EA Sports isnt comming out with one.

I've looked into The Show and MLB2K6. So far the show looks like the more impressive game, graphic and feature wise. Can anyone tell me how hitting and pitching in the previous 989 Sports MLB games compare with the old EA Sports MVP versions?

MVP 2006 IS coming out, just with College Teams.

And I wouldnt buy the 2k Sports baseball game if you're a PS2 owner (if you're not then you really dont have a choice, unless you buy MVP 2006). Their baseball games suck and always will. The players always look funny and the game is just way to arcade like.

It's going to be a long 7 years while 2k Sports has the official licsence to make 3rd party MLB games. EA only has themselves to blame for doing that with the NFL games, but still, I hate the 2k games. This past years 2k baseball game sucked .

I posted this in some other section but I guess it applies here too.

I was pretty dissapointed when I heard that EA lost the license for MLB but then I found out that some people are making a 06 mod based on the engine of MVP 05 for the PC version. Seems like they are putting in alot of work into it. Here is the link where it shows the progress of the project http://mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Fo...wtopic&t=15732

I hate exlusive licensing deals The MVP games were the best.

MLB2K6 is the way to go. They dominate every sport except for football because of Madden However, I loved NFL2K1-3 for Dreamcast. Those were really fun.

Sigh...I fear with EA no longer making their MVP series I may be out of the basball video game business. For some reason, you can't throw a rock in any direction without hitting a good football game, but MVP was pretty much the only good baseball game on the market.

I'm sure The Show will have better gameplay than 2K6, but since I play most of my sports games (especially my beloved MVP 2005) on the XBox then I'll be stuck with 2K6. I hope there aren't a million bugs and glitches in 2K6 like there has been in previous 2K games that I've purchased.

I hope so too about the bugs. Last year's game seemed very rushed to beat EA to the market.

One feature I like in this year's game is you can argue with the umpires. I guess I have to wait a long time until they have a feature where I can see if my player can get away with taking roids or get suspended.

Because as I said I have yet to play any baseball game that even comes close to MVP. Sure, I'll probably rent 2k6 to try it out (ain't throwing them $50 to find out the game sucks) but from what I've heard I already don't like it.

It's not going to be $50 is it!? 2K5 was $19.99!

Granted, it might not be (IYO) as good as MVP, but it still isn't Atari-esque. It's pretty decent.

I think the 2K games are choppy. I'm going to get Sony's MLB 2006 The Show.

I have no idea what the price will be, I was just guessing. And something better than "Atari-esque" isn't exactly a deal maker on my end. I mean, it's not like I have to play a baseball video game. If it sucks, I can do something else with that portion of my free time y'know. Like play a football video game.

I guess I'm just not a hardcore videogamer. I'm not that concerned about how awesome it is. Heck, I didn't own an XBOX till last year, so I'll take it

See, but that's the point - because I'm not a hardcore videogamer (I purchase maybe three a year) if it's not great I really don't see the point. When I was 14 I'd be willing to play anything for hours on end. I don't have the hours on end anymore, so if I am going to sit down to play something it's gotta be worth the price of admission.

For all those here that do buy it, let's get a NYYfans tourney going. I have no idea who gets to play as the Yankees though.

I guess that makes sense. We're on opposite ends of the spectrum then. Since I'm not buying too many games and I don't play too much, I don't care if the product is a B+ or A- and the A+ product isn't being made anymore.

Nice! I believe it can be arranged where more than one person can be the Yankees. It could be a tourney full Yankees vs Yankees. I guess we'd have a few Redsox teams in the mix too. But really someone has to be the Royals! Who's calling that team?

The problem with the 2k games is the same one it's been since the game was first made for the Dreamcast. The charcater models look like statues and their animation looks funny.

I bought the 2k5 game that Visual Concepts released with the updated rosters. It was awful. The batting stances were all wrong. The character models looked horrid, even worse than the Dreamcast ones IMO. They also pronounced Cano's name Can-yo. I mean, the game didnt come out until the playoffs and WS was over, and by then, Cano had been in the Majors for how long? And they still didnt get the name right, that's just poor production.

The only thing I'm hoping for is now that they have the market to themselves they amp it up. Of course, having the market to themselves could also mean they don't have to do jack or sh*t.

Exactly. Looking at it the screens and the preview movie right now, it looks ok. But I was duped before. I'll try it, and if it's good, I'll give it it's propers. But, with their only real competition for an actual MLB game only being on one platform (PS2) they could go the "We dont have to try because where else are they going to go" route and just bump up the graphics and gameplay a little and that's it.

It would be real embarassing to 2k Sports if a College game outsells an MLB game. I can see it happening though. Not many people were happy when 2k got the exclusive 3rd party liscense.

    Re: 2006 Baseball Video Games

What's the deal with Xbox 360 baseball games? I've seen previews and screens for MVP 06 and MLB 2K6 for the original Xbox and PS2, but they claim a 360 version is supported, yet there's nothing about it. I hope it's not going to be a port.

    Anyone know?
