Thread: Lost a bet to a Yankee fan.

Lost a bet to a Yankee fan.

As a RS fan, I lost a bet to a Yankee fan and rather than just get him the obligatory case of beer, I'd like to get him something else also. Do you all have any ideas? I was thinking maybe a NYY Damon shirt (if they're out yet - it would just kill me to buy it) so he could razz me with it all year long. Also, I have no idea if there are any Yankee specific microbrews or anything that you might recommend as the beer?

I know a lot of male Yankee fans, and I think I speak the truth when I say he probably would prefer the beer.

The shirts are out, but I haven't met anyone who wants one or got one yet.

    Get him opening day tickets.

I bought it as soon as my local Modell's got it and I wear it proudly.

Yep. I'd definitely prefer the beer. Perhaps there's a Damon bottle-opener out there?

There is a Yankee bottle opener.

As far as the beer itself, Heineken is imported in White Plains, NY and Budweiser gave Roger Maris a distribution setup.

I saw a great shirt at Modell's: On the front, it says Hey Johnny? No Hair, No Beard?

On the back it says No Problem, above Damon 18. I like it a lot.

I haven't bought a Damon jersey yet because if he sucks, I am going to be stuck with a jersey of a crappy player.

Yeah I am very cautious about investing in jerseys and this year took advantage of a 20% off thing to get an official Mariano road jersey. At least I know it will be good forever.

My sister got me the talking bottle opener. It's awesome, I love it. My friends hate it, especially the 2 friends that are red sox fans. I bought one for my gf's dad when he left for Portugal a few months ago. Now he's back and told me he though of us every time he opened a beer.

Renounce the Red Sox and become a Yankee Fan.
If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.

Re: Lost a bet to a Yankee fan.

Thanks for the ideas (beyond renouncing the RS that is )... I took a peek at the bottle opener and that will annoy me and the other RS fans he's friends with so he'll probably enjoy it --- so I'll go with the Yankee bottle opener and tons o beer. Thanks again.

My friend has that one. IIRC, it is Sterling's announcement of the Giambi walkoff HR in the extra innings in the rain when we were down by 3 runs.

edit: What was the bet anyways?

I tried to buy a friend of mine a Christmas gift from a sporting outlet... a Johnny Damon Red Sox tee shirt. I was at the store the day of his press announcement and they'd already gotten rid of them. I don't know if they sold them or if they cleared them off the shelves but i couldnt find one.

Haha. I love annoying Red Sox fans with mine - or better yet making them use it and annoying themselves. It's great. I leave it out as the only bottle opener when there are a bunch of people over so everyone has to hear it all the time. One night they all got so pissed one of them cracked the thing in half. Making him go out and buy a new one was totally worth it, he was not happy at all having to buy anything Yankees related.

Good choice with that and the beer.

I have the same one, and my buddy, who's a White Sox fan, hid the damn thing on me on top of a cupboard. Im all cool with ribbing on people and having friendly fun hating your buddies team and all, but I found it kinda disrespectful that he would mess with my property like that. So I broke into his email account and sent out a message to all his contacts saying how he was really into porn, and was looking for some new sites, and could they help him find anything that had any fat grandmas on it Tit for tat, I say.

I always bet with a friend who's a Steelers fan. Our last bet this year was that the loser would buy the winner a hat of his team, take a picture wearing said hat then mail the picture and hat to the winner.
I got my new Patriots hat along with a picture of a diehard Steelers fan wearing it!

I win the thread- he's getting the talking opener!

It's the Giambi homer, but they edited out his name from the call.

I've also had mine hidden on me many times. haha

I'm not a fan of the Mariano road jersey. That's the only time he ever blows post season saves.

The talking bottle opener is awesome, but knowing what call it was, I did not purchase it until the Giambino came clean with everybody. I love using it now getting to hear Sterling in all his glory

I love that bottle opener. I trained the new cat to come running whenever she hears John Sterling's voice. It amazes friends and relatives alike...
