Should I go to a Chiropractor?

About 8 days ago, I was getting out of a lounge chair when I pulled my back out or something. I was really sore and couldn't bend for a few days. It's a lot better now, but there's still some soreness left and a little bit of numbness in my arms and legs.

I've never gone to a chiropractor before. Does it work? Is it safe? Any opinions would be great!

I would begin with your primary first. Chiros work for some and not others...your primary should be given the first look.

I agree with Bub and I go to a chiropractor several times a year. I started with my regular doctor though some years ago to determine my problem. I have three herniated discs in my lower back (L3, 4 and 5). The doc said I might want to consider a chiro for periodic problems, but if it persisted something else may have to be done. Thankfully, an ajustment a few times a year keeps me going. The chiro also gave me some stretching exercises to do and I can actually fix the occasional problem myself, so long as I catch it early.
Thanks for the memories, George. You made the Yankees what they are today... Champions!

Maybe you should just get a massage or something.

I have gone to Chiropracters many times in my life. If you have a good one they can really help to alleviate the pain. I would go there first before spending money on a primary doctor. If the pain persists then I would see the primary in case it is something that needs to be evaluated further. Chiropractors will tell you that you have to keep coming back, which may be needed in the beginning, but after awhile, after you feel better that is you can stop going. That is just my experience.

I would go to primary first, then if you don't see any results go to a chiropractor. Or better yet just buy some good alcohol to drink and numb the pain with.

I have gone to a chiro many times. I think they're better for chronic issues, but if you actually pulled something and it's much better, there's probably not much they can do. Their treatments work better if you're out of alignment.

Be careful with chiropractors. They aren't exactly trained in scientific methods. It's a pseudoscience at best. There are a few good ones out there, but most of them are quacks. Do your research before you go!

A chiropractor is the last place you should go. Please, please go to www.travelocity.com or www.orbitz.com or www.kayak.com and book the first cheep flight to New Orleans. Have them book you a hotel near the French Quarter and a rental car. Then search the net for Voodoo Doctors in New Orleans. There are scores of really good ones in NO. She will make a doll of you and stick pins in it that will do you wondors. Just be careful you don't get one who wants to get back at society for her problems by sticking pins in the dolls privates. Otherwise you'll find that you will never feel better than you will after the treatment.

While you are there make sure you go to Chey Pauls' (Prudome's) and have some Shrimp Creole with a Peppered Martimi and then go to Pat O'Brien's for a "Hurricane" and while you are there pick up one of those omnipresent girls just looking for fun and then finish up in The Commanders Palace for a fantastic Lunch or Dinner.

    Take care and enjoy.

I've been going to chiropractors for years and haven't had anything negative to say about it. I think they do a lot of good.

But I would give it a few days and see if it goes away on its own.

I think he's given it over a year and 3 months.

I've been seeing an Atlas Chiropractor for almost six years now and go every three weeks. I swear this lady's hands are touched by God Himself. Atlas Chiropractic is much easier on your back, in my opinion, because they don't practice the "bone cruncher" techniques other Chiropractors use. She's about the only reason I'm still walking today. As for PT's, all they wanted to do for me was fill my medicine cabinet with pills.

    See your PC first.

He/She may recommend PT or a chiro both work depending on what is wrong joint or muscle?

I have gone to both. A good chiropractor should resolve the problem in a few visits, If not return to PC. If it feels like a billing trap, get another chiropractor.

    Does this help?

Bobbymagee needs a little attention, I guess. Which leads me to believe that his ridiculous topic is probably a crockof.................
