Dear God Noooooo
There are many reasons why the Yankees have won so much since 1995, but this is above all others: They have Mariano Rivera and no one else does.

i'm gonna throw up my dinner!
Unless/until there is some verifiable confirmation of this story, I think it's best if we treat this as just a rumor, and keep the discussion in the existing Hot Stove forum thread on Damon.

Since there now seems to be a link confirming the story, I'll re-open this thread for the time being.

Any other link besides that news station?Originally Posted by ring403

The link said he "agreed". Not "Damon signed with the Yankees". Unfortunately, we'll have to wait and see.
I gather that using the word 'agreed' is also an insurance for that website from getting sued.

That's it for the moment, as far as I know. I wanted to be sure that someone didn't just misinterpret something they heard on TV.Originally Posted by RhodeyYankee2638

Its 4 years, he's never spent a day on the DL, he'll be tradable if we have prospects come up.
He fills a BIG BIG need on the team

If ESPNEWS reports anything, they will just be reporting that there's a story out there saying that Damon has agreed to play for the Yankees. If they comfirm the story then that would be different.Originally Posted by GoRocket

Well, this is now the second story today saying he's signing with the Yanks, maybe where there's smoke, there's fire.

I have FSN New England on....and they are talking about a rumor floating around that the Yanks offered Damon 5 years $53 million
but they seem to be blowing it off as just a rumor. Nothing about a 4 year deal...nothing about the report from that TV station

Go Yankees!
You've got nothing to believe in but believing in yourself.
I agree. He bolsters our lineup and hopefully we signed him to a reasonable contract in those 4 years. Not to mention he improves the most glaring need coming into this offseason: outfield defense.Originally Posted by 38Special

Or, if there is actually a deal, they'd report that. But as of now, it's still the CBS station in Boston being the source. I am skeptical.Originally Posted by ICEBERG18

I like how people thought a center fielder was going to drop out of the sky.

The 5/53 one was from last night.Originally Posted by dabomb2045
