As much as I don't hate Torre. I'm not too sure the term "use him right" is in his dictionary. So by this, do you think Willie didn't use Looper right when he blew saves?Originally Posted by BJG

He is Done. Toast. Overcooked. Finished.

I think Bernie will decline arbitration and perhaps retire. Don't hurt your career average anymore Bernie. The Mick always regretted that.
The loser now will be later to win...
Who the ................ was he supposed to play? Matt Lawton? Bubba showed zero ability to hit the ball past the pitcher until they gave up and let him have the job. Dont give me that bull................ about his boys. Did he have Ruben Sierra playing every game?Originally Posted by dabomb2045
If you want to blame anyone then blame Cashman for doing a piss poor job of putting together the team combined with the ................ty decisionmaking of Tampa/New York and the scouting directors. Our garbage farm system has done nothing for us in the last 10 years. Thankfully its improving now but that cant change the old decrepid players who we had signed already

He should of at least had Matsui play CF. And Yes, Bubba would of been better overall because of the defense he could of given...Originally Posted by 38Special

No Bernie should of moved over but Torre of course would never ask him to do so. He even practiced playing left during the year but for some reason he was never out there...Originally Posted by 38Special

Bernie had reservations about it and never felt comfortable out there, at least thats what i read. That wouldnt have improved the defense anyway. His weak inaccurate arm would have been even more damaging in left.Originally Posted by JavyVazquezIsSick

How many players on the roster are from the farm system since 96? Posada? Cano? Wang?Originally Posted by Vin
We've produce some decent players but traded them away. Believe me, you wont find a bigger supporter of our farm system now, but the drafts since the 90s have been beyond horrendous leading into 2003
arguing about what should have been done last season is irrelevant IMHO. I dont see one good reason why Bernie should have been offered arb.
Nobody in their right mind is gonna sign this guy and give up a draft pick. He will be here next year....and will play alot more then he should.

I never read anything about that, I know he was willing to do it. Of course I'm sure he'd rather stay in a position that he played his whole career but it was up to Torre to move him and say "You know what you can't play CF, move over, or sit down." It would of saved us a bunch of runs if Matsui was the CFer, Matsui's arm is horrible as well, it wouldn't of been that great of a difference in left...Originally Posted by 38Special

Then whats his point of being on the team? Pinch runner? He is no longer near the hitter he once was to be a DH, in addition I'd much rather give Phillips a shot at 1st/DH. He's free and good...Originally Posted by 38Special

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/spo...6?OpenDocumentStill waiting to address vacancies in the bullpen and outfield corners, the Cardinals said goodbye to second baseman Mark Grudzielanek, left fielder Reggie Sanders and righthanded reliever Julian Tavarez when they elected not to offer arbitration to the free agents by the deadline Wednesday night.

Tavarez can pitch, but he might go Kevin Brown on a team.....still....a good arm out of the pen (RHP).
It would work out as one of the worst moves of the off-season (maybe worse than Loretta for Mirabelli) since we'd be paying at the VERY MINIMUM, $9,885,714.40 to a guy who can't hit or run or field.Originally Posted by ryanm1058123

I don't think Proctor is going to be in the pen on Opening Day. As of now we have Rivera, Farnsworth, Small, Sturtze, and Wright in the bullpen, and it seems very likely we'll sign Myers and maybe another arm for the 7th. Where does Proctor fit in?Originally Posted by dabomb2045
