I found this article on the Yesnetwork website. He is not a free agent so I don't see a trade happening. Anyway here is the link to the article.

The Rays are not exactly known for being easy to trade with, so I don't think the yanks could get something done. (Heck, I was sure they'd trade Baez at the deadline this season, and they held him. If they didn't move him then, I don't know why they'd be anxious to do it now). But I think he'd be a great add.

Yankees aren't going to trade "closer value" to the D-Rays for someone they're going to use as a setup guy.
Better to overpay a free agent with cash than to overpay with prospects.
The Rays just changed General Managers, so they might be easier to deal with, especially now that the new Managing Partner lives in New York.
I'd love to have Baez. Huff, too. And Crawford or Baldelli. But what do we have to give them?
Tampa Bay has a lot of needs but perhaps their biggest is IF help: either SS or 3B (with Julio Lugo playing the other position.) What do we hve for them? Escalona? Or would it take Duncan?
For someone like Baez, Tampa Bay (with an actual owner/GM now) will try to pry upper-tier prospects from the Yanks in a trade. It ain't happening.
They'd have to. They wouldn't have a closer, and this is simply not a market that you want to be one of the teams without one.Originally Posted by DontHateOnNumber2
If they decide to deal Baez they can demand top shelf prospects for him and expect to get them.

tampa would probably ask for the yankees brand/logo for danny baez.
I would like Baez in the set-up role, but I don't see that trade going down w/o the Yankees getting screwed.
Baez isn't leaving TB until he is a FA. They're really high on him down here.
I think everyone here would love to have Baez, but its probably close to impossible for the Yankees to get him.

I would definitely take Baez as a setup man, but I don't think there is any reasonable way we could snag him from the Rays.
I brought up Baez in a previous post. But this is more of a pipe dream than anything.
Just imagine a lineup of: Baez, Farnsworth, Myers, Tavarez/Gordon, the Sandman
Escalona has zero trade value. He is below-replacement level.Originally Posted by Quangormo

If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.
Has anyone seen this guy pitch against the Sox?? He's a ManRam/Ortiz homer machine...but I'd take him for Escalona and bag of balls.

You're looking at a very small sample of outings from one season. Over his career he's done just fine against the Sox. He's unattainable, but he'd certainly be a good addition.Originally Posted by DandyAndy46

Plus I couldn't take all the posts about "Danny Baez" . . . it would be painful memories from the "Andy Petite" era.
