    Pavano gone?

Post over on SoSH that Pavano and Melky are gone, with Milton Bradley and Guillermo Mota going to NY.

    Anyone see this anywhere yet?

Haven't heard anything yet. If it is true - it's a HORRID trade. We'd be giving up far too much.

Also what would it be? Pavano to Florida for Mota and Melky to LA for Bradley?

    Re: Pavano gone?

    LAD - Pierre, Pavano

    NYY - Milt Bradley, Mota

FLA - Brazoban, Houlton, Delwyn Young, Melky Cabrera

Who knows if any of this is true. I hope it's not. I dont want Milton Bradley anywhere near a Yankee Stadium. I don't even want Mota. I'd rather have Brazoban. Plus, the Yanks would have to pay a lot of Pavano's contract.

I just hope we can pry Rowand away from the Phillies.

That trade makes absolutely no sense in anyway.

    don't worry it is fake.

It came from a marlins fan forum with a fake link to the miami herlad with fake quotes from the Marlins GM.

Sosh and dirt dogs are real amatuers when it comes to this stuff.

    Re: Pavano gone?

A friend told this to me - heard it on the radio and saw it ont he Miami Herald newspaper, but it's off the Herald online edition now.

FLA trades Juan Pierre to LAD, Guillermo Mota to NYY. LAD trades DJ Houlton, Yhency Brazoban, Delwyn Young to FLA, Milton Bradley to NYY. NYY trades Melky Cabrera to FLA, Carl Pavano to LAD (with Yankees picking up a lot of Pavano's money)
That's the trade. Makes no sense. Cashman will shoot that down in a SECOND. Seems so fake.

You know, no one over there said it was real. They are posting rumors. Don't try to start a pissing match. I brought it over here for more confirmation...if it's fake it'll get shot down. No need to throw a dig in at other sites.

I'm not defensive...I started this thread with a rumor I got at SoSH, and when it's debunked (and it was just a rumor) there had to be a dig thrown in. I didn't realize that I should have combed every forum on the net to find the source.

    My bad.

    Must be a sox fan.
Oh, I am. Not sure what that has to do with passing on a rumor. Hard news only from now on.

The Yankees would never make that trade because Bradley is going to be non-tendered on Dec. 20.

Cashman just said yesterday that Pavano is not going anywhere, so i doubt that rumor has any validity to it.

Your first comment was a defensive reaction to a post that simply said "sosh and dirt dogs are real amateurs at this". You insinuated that that started a "pissing match". Very defensive, IMO. Perhaps you thought we'd buy it and get our panties in a knot.

This guy can start threads and I can't? Geez. Travesty, I say.

With Cashman in full command of the off-season maneuvering, you can be assured, absolutely assured, of three things --

    1. The Yankees will get younger, more athletic, and less expensive.

    2. No one will be acquired who has the clubhouse presence of Raul Mondesi (like, for example, Milton Bradley). The prototypical clubhouse personality will be Paul O'Neill-like.

    3. There will be no rash, hit the panic button, answer the Red Sox kind of moves that usually result in disaster.

That's part of the reason why my lunch began coming back up.

There's no need to send off players who could be trading chips later on (or maybe even contributors to the Yankees) to bring back a guy you could get two weeks later for nothing more than the salary you'd pay him.

And Mota alone isn't worth Melky and Pavano.

It isn't unreasonable to ask that you check sources before starting a thread.

It isn't unreasonable to believe that rumors from other discussion boards don't meat that standard

On these kinds of on-line communities, when digs are the norm, I would hope you expected one for doing what, outwardly, seems rather unreasonable.

You're still here, though. No offense man, but at this point it does seem like a joke. There's no real indication of this and it does seem like a bad trade. Just shouldn't have gotten so defensive about it.

I agree this would be an idiotic trade. But I dont think the Yankees care about #2. If Bradley can be had for nothing on or after Dec. 20th, then they'd be as stupid as this trade rumor is.

Absolutely. Bradley is too firey and intense, gets in arguments with officials, and has been known to throw tantrums in the dugout and clubhouse. Nothing like the ever-tranquil Paul O'Neill.

Since it seems that this rumor was a hoax, and no major news source is even mentioning it, I don't see any reason for this to stay open. If it turns out that there's any smoke to it, it can always be re-opened.
