Not surprising.

What happened to the good old days when players showed up, played their asses off, and then went home?

I wonder how long they keep him out for. TO is the best wideout in the game hands down...he must have really f'd up or said something behind closed doors that we don't know about for this to happen. Back when John Abraham got the DWI, Herm suspended him a week. But this is an indefinite suspension...damn.

Congrats to the Eagles for doing this when their season is going to hell. It's the right thing for them to do.

I just wonder who would actually take T.O.? Any team that could a) use another WR and b) have room in their cap for one would be crazy to take this troublemaker.

While I'm no fan of TO or the Eagles, I just don't understand what the big deal is. Sure, Owens is selfish and arrogant, but what professional athlete isn't? What did he say in this recent interview that was so controversial? That the team's performance is directly related to how well McNabb plays? That the Eagles as an organization hasn't been completely fair to him? Both statements are 100% true.
Honestly, I'm sick of a lot of holier than thou sportswriters taking the piss out of Owens. I don't like the guy by any stretch, but there are far worse people playing in the NFL that get a free pass. Jamal Lewis is a convicted cocaine trafficer. Ray Lewis most likely killed a man. For TO to get all this criticism over some (fairly harmless) comments seems ludicrous to me.
All that being said, I'm glad the Eagles are in total disarray. Make way for the Jints!

loquacious.. I hope he doesn’t get paid..
You make some very good points, but I think his comments this week were just the straw that broke the camel's back. TO has become a distraction and I think the Eagles are just sick of dealing with him. Also, didn't he recently get into a fist fight with Hugh Douglas?Originally Posted by MisterNovember

T.O. beat up Hugh Douglas apparently. Not surprising considering he is a huge muscular guy. I don't get why T.O. is suspended either. This is free country. He didn't say anything that bad. However, as a Cowboy fan, I heartily approve of the Eagles suspending T.O.

Ray Lewis was apparently there when the man was killed and then proceeded to help cover up the crime by lying to the authorities. If he wasn't a celebrity, his ass would be locked up, period.Originally Posted by yankeesAZ

Good riddance.
Actually part of me wishes he was still there wrecking Philly's year.
Kudos for Reid for having the guts to suspend a player of Owen's caliber even though it further hurt his team's chances in a tough year for them. I think that he did what needed to be done, given TO's attitude, but a lot of coaches probably would have tried to coddle him through it, and I give Reid credit for suspending him.

I said in one of the other T.O. threads that if he ever put the BS to bed and played the way he is capable of playing, he could be the best player in the league. But he probably will continue to play the role of the spoiled athlete who thinks he is bigger than his team. Good for the Eagles for not putting up with his BS any longer. They were a very good team before he arrived and they basically made it to the Super Bowl without him.
Good, no one player is above the team.

He is an asshat who cried his way enough for the league to step in to nix the trade to Baltimore(bet they are thankful for that). Philly should trade him to Houston, or even better back to SF(like to see what his reaction would be catching passes from Cody Pickett).
TO you got traded to a better situation, to a team that made 4 straight Conf. title games, including a SuperBowl, got a hefty signing bonus and make good coin.

I love it. It couldn't happen to a better team. The NFC East is up for grabs now. I hope T.O. wins his grievance on top of everything and gets paid.

TO's stock has got to be at an all-time low. I'm sure he'll end up somewhere, but who would want to put up with this headache.

Where did you hear that T.O. "beat up" Douglas? I have a very hard time beleiving that. Douglas is a huge guy, no matter how muscular Owens is.Originally Posted by YankeeFan1
I remember watching TO on some ESPN behind the scenes show or something a few years ago. He was shopping in New York and looking at some NFL stuff, going through some Jets and Giants stuff, of course the whole time looking for his own apparell. After a lot of whining he pulls out a Wayne Chrebet jersey, and says something like "Who is Wayne Chrebet and why is his jersey here and not mine".
After watching the NFL games yesterday it made me think. TO didnt even play, we all know the story why. Not only did Chrebet play, but he sold out his body making a huge 3rd down catch late in the game that almost set up an amazing Jets come from behind victory. And in doing so, suffered his 9th, and in all likelyhood career ending concussion.

Per ESPN---TO is now done for the season. I applaud the Eagles and especially applaud Andy Reid. TO is a cancer and an idiot. Reid took a stand and said, "TO, you're a great football player but you are the most selfish person in team sports." I know TO is too talented to NOT get signed somewhere else---but I would be surprised if any team offers him more than a one year contract. TO is the epitome of what is wrong in professional sports and it would be great if ESPN would stop giving us breaking news everytime TO takes a dump.
I might have missed it in the thread, but what did he do to get suspened indefinately?

Made comments about McNabb, the organization as a whole, and then gave a sh!tty apology. It was apparently not these isolated events that led to it, but these were the final straws.Originally Posted by NYYBombshell

Good for T.O. The man brings nothing but trouble anywhere he goes. What he said was definetly true though. But like I said in another thread, people need to be more tactful.
Does anyone here disagree with what T.O said about McNabb? Got into it a little bit w/ a co-worker... I don't see the big deal w/ McNabb. Part of the reason is he's always hurt, and yeah it's great he's trying to play through it, but he's always putting the Eagles in situations where they can't succeed b/c of his physical limitations... and crappy QB skills, even when healthy.
