I know most of you guys are in love with Robbie, but O-dog has my vote....amazing range
Curious to see where Cano ranks among second basemen.

By the way, I love O-Dogs Defense.
Cano, the best is yet to come. Not that I dont have the utmost respect and admiration for the talent that Hudson is.
The loser now will be later to win...
Cano is about 5 years younger and is already a better hitter. I'll take him. Either one would be nice, though.
Hudson imo is better, they are basically the same on offense, both young but Hudson has amazing defense and Cano is an average defender at best.
That being said Id rather have Cano because he is young and has loads of potetional and we dont need an all star at every position.
I feel like all of you guys are so certain Cano is "the real deal". You all must admit that when Robbie was in his major slump in august, you thought he was road kill. Whether you would like to acknowledge it or not, Robbie has a lot of work to do on his game, and yes I know he is only 23, but can we really expect his obp. to drastically shoot up?can we expect him to learn how to make plays to his left? can we expect him to make a major improvement on his k/bb ratio?
Some of these answers may be Yes and some of them may be No...he is a nice player but let's not crown him just yet
What crown? The thread starter asked who would you rather have Factoring in age, ability and overall game performance.Originally Posted by THEBOSS84

Fair points, but there is a very good chance he will continue to be a better player than Hudson.Originally Posted by THEBOSS84
this is the best response of this whole thread btw.

I'm NO american born confused desi, but i love my yanks!
I will take hudson and the CF we will get for cano.
Cano doesn't have much track record yet, but I think it's unfair to him to say they're the same on offense. Cano as a rookie matched Hudson's best season, was 30 points of ops above Hudson's career, 50 points above 2 of 3 Hudson's full seasons, and showed considerably more power than Hudson ever has. And although he needs to learn to walk, he strikes out less than Hudson.Originally Posted by JeterRodriguezSheff
It's close, but I would probably take Hudson and his D, at least until Cano proves he can be patient.
I love Hudson, especially his defense. But I got to go with Robby. Much better hitter for average and power, and projectabiltiy with age on his side.

Why is this even a question other than the fact that people like to say O-dog?

Cano. He will soon have much more power than Hudson.
Nothing to say
Cano...

I pick Cano because he still has a long way to go. As for Hudson, he's already there. His defense is amazing.

Cano, his defense is underrated because of all the errors.
His mistakes defensively does not come because of lack of ability but because of lack of concentration.

There is merit in having a stable team, one that has played together for a while. This is where the concept of "Team" comes from, not from a constantly rotating lineup.
Just because many of you are bored doesn't mean we should go out making constant trades just to keep your interest up.
No one has said Cano is HOF bound. All we have said is that he is a natural hitter with plenty of upside potential and youth besides and could be a LONG term mainstay for us at second.

Orlando Hudson is an incredible fielder, but will only ever be a decent hitter. Robinson Cano is going to be a great hitter, and will probably improve defensively. I'd rather have Cano.

Cano, he's younger, shown very good offensive capabilities, and he has very good range. If he can tightening up his defense a little bit he'll probably be a very good defensive 2nd Baseman. Does anyone have his Zone rating for 2005?

I think Cano is already a Top 3 AL 2nd basemen on defense in terms of range, hands and arm strength. Some of the errors were rookie mistakes, he will eliminate them with experience. And ofcourse, Cano is a better offensive player with opposite field power, while Hudson is your typical 2nd basemen slap or gaps hitter.
Congratulations and thank you for number 27, Yankees !!!!!!!!!!!!!. 1 game at a time to 28. C'mon, Yankees.
I see Cano having a career similar to O-Dogs which I could live with.

ROBINSON CANO
The Yankees seem to have come out of their organizational meetings firm in their resolve not to trade Canó. Gentlemen, start constructing our alternate Torii Hunter trade fantasies now. I actually see this as bad news, because the Yankees need their pitching prospects, and if Canó isn't going, they are the most likely trade targets. Seeing Matt Desalvo and J. Brent Cox pitching for the Twins in August while the Yankees struggle to find Aaron Small 2006 would be extremely frustrating. Canó could develop into something good, but he's not the kind of player who is indispensable. Trading him for a decent center fielder won't be a mistake on the order of Fred McGriff for Dale Murray.
There was an interview with Don Mattingly during his career about traded young players. It went something like this:
REPORTER: Donnie, is it frustrating watching the organization trade all the good young players out from under you?
MATTINGLY: Now, that's not fair. We've gotten some fine players for those prospects.
REPORTER: What about Fred McGriff?
MATTINGLY: Okay, who'd we get for him?
REPORTER: Dale Murray.
MATTINGLY (long pause): Oh.

Goldman's gimmicky columns are funny sometimes, but we can't even trade Cox for anyone until after June. It would be nice if some research was done
I rather have Cano than Hudson. Cano might be a break-out player next year.
