Tejada threw in the towel and quit at the end of 2005. He was hurt and bitter by his treatment at the hands of the Baltimore Steroid brothers, Soso and Palmeroid. I wouldn't trade Jeter for Tejada, ever.

Jeromy Burnitz? JEROMY &*(#\! Burnitz?!?!? A 37-year-old outfielder who's never hit that well outside of Coors, with little defensively to recommend him, with a 2-year deal in a team that has two promising outfield prospects to break in? On a team that's going to be lucky to be 4th next year?

There are no words. If Bowden is the worst MLB GM, how can Angelos not be the worst owner? As another poster in another forum pointed out:

All we needed was a good, smart off-season. SIgning Hernandez was a good start. Latroy Hawkins should help. Bringing back Conine as a platoon partner was okay.But signing Jeromy Burnitz to a 2 year, $12 million contract? That is the epitome of throwing money away. Burnitz has been nothing more than an average corner OF for most of the 21st Century, except for his season in Colorado. He's 37, OPACY suppressed LH hitters HRs last season, and did I mention he's 37?! This was a signing to make a signing, pure and simple. Does the Orioles front office think so little of their fans that they think a signing, any signing, means the team is doing something? Take the $12 million and put it into scouting, the farm system, hold it in reserve for later deals. Don't spend it just to make it look like you're doing something.
I'm done. 22 years as an Orioles fan, a third of my life, and I'm done. I will not attend games at the park anymore, I will not buy merchandise, I will not even attend Baysox games any longer. I am divorcing myself from this organization, at least until the Angelos regime is gone. And judging by the comments of other knowledgeable O's fans, I'm not the only one taking these actions. So technically, Angelos was speaking the truth when he said on 9/29 that "The tough times are over." It was silly O's fans who, reading between the lines, interpreted that statement as meaning that better times were ahead when what their esteemed owner really meant was "The tough times are over, and will be remembered as the last times in the early part of this century when this franchise had a glimmer of hope. What will follow will be a growing morass that will make the tough times seem quite pleasent in comparison."

This is like when I used to play softball that was sponsored by a local bar. They, naturally, had a rival bar and you would pound heads with them for no reason other than they were the rival.

The upside of that for me is, Baltimore is a nice drive from where I am, and it's usually pretty easy to get Red Sox-Orioles tickets at Camden Yards. And it really is a nice place to watch a game.

I agree that Baltimore will not be a pushover like some think with Bedard and Cabrera under Mazzone. I still think they are the 4th best team in a very good AL East.

White Sox Receive Tejada Offer

Remember when I decided to start calling Kenny Williams "spunky" based on his Javier Vazquez and Jim Thome trades? I'm starting to think I should stick with "bold," as cliche as it may be.

As I mentioned earlier on this site, the White Sox submitted two trade proposals for Miguel Tejada with a deadline of December 31st. Now the White Sox have re-entered the Tejada fray.

A rock-solid source of mine close to the White Sox tells me that the team is "lying in the weeds" and allowing the Mets, Devil Rays, Orioles, and Red Sox to beat each other up with this whole Manny/Tejada 4-way thing. The White Sox hope that the 4-way deal falls apart because it's too complicated and too expensive. Presently, it seems that their wish will be fulfilled.

The Orioles want the Tejada deal done soon, and approached the White Sox yesterday with a proposal. The Orioles asked for Jose Contreras, Juan Uribe, Ryan Sweeney, and a top pitching prospect. That unknown prospect may be a sticking point, but it can probably be worked out. Alex Woodson has been previously mentioned in discussions between the two clubs. It would be a daring move by Kenny Williams to subtract Uribe and Aaron Rowand after winning a World Series with defense as the team's strength.

My source tells me to look for an announcement by Friday about Tejada, no matter where he ends up. The White Sox have their own motivation to wrap things up before the weekend: they'd like to have an announcement that does not conflict with a Bears playoff weekend or the Cubs Convention.

I never saw a 4 way deal, simply because they never happen with superstars involved. The collapse under their own weight. If the ChiSox pull this off, they will be far and away the favorites for next year.

By the way, I don't know how the ChiSox can submit two proposals, and be "lying in the weeds" at the same time. Everyone knows that the ChiSox are players here, I just really hope that they don't get Tejada. (Even more than Boston)

Catonsville is absolutely HORRIBLE. It is right next to where I went to school at UMBC. It is completely ghetto. So many drugs around there.
