I still suspect Walt Harris might have it.

I can't blame the refs here. I blame Gibbs for playing conservative on 3rd and 2 before the 2 mintute warning, knowing our defense has been shredded by Simms all day, Walt Harris for getting torched yet again, and if we stay onsides Gruden doesn't go for 2 and perhaps we get a different finish.

    Re: The Redskins Thread

No doubt we never should have been in that position. All last year I said if we ever get an offense with this defense, we'll go places. Now we've got an offense and our defense is lacking. 35 points on the Bucs and we can't win a game. Unreal. And everytime we marched down and scored a TD to take the lead, we let them march right back down the field to tie it up.

The refs stunk (still lovin' that "force out" call that lead to the first TD), but this outcome shouldn't have been in doubt. Even more painful with the Super Bowl bound Giants having a minor hiccup against Minnesota.

Heart ripped out again. Redskins football.

    Kick Norv's ass next week.

I blame the defense long before I blame the offense. You have a 7 point lead on a crap offense with no time outs left and you give up a long pass. This team needs to learn how to finish a team on the road.

Every time we took a 7 point lead, they scored on the next drive. The D is a shell of its former self (and yes, Griffin and Taylor being out definitely hurts). There's gotta be cornerbacks bagging groceries right now who could play better than Walt Harris is currently.

Oh have no fear. We will get our bevy of apologies from the league tomorrow which amount to nothing at all. They will tell us the refs were wrong on so many occasions and with and a dollar we can get some coffee at 7-11. The refs were so bad in that game that it was amazing. I think Gibbs said they sent in at least 7 plays for review. Most teams send in one or two.

I think since the second half of the Seattle game our defense has not been the same. We were lights out up to that point.

Still very much in the thick of things. Just happy to be in mid November and still be able to talk about a possible playoff run unlike the past few years where it was over in September.

Last year was crazy. There were scenarios for awhile that would have gotten us in at 7-9 for awhile there. Even at 3-8 there was a glimmer of hope.

Wonder if I can find a pic of that "forced out" play that set up the 1st TB touchdown. Gahhhhh.

That was probably the nail in the coffin. Whenever we decide to get the turnover issue solved, maybe we'll go places.

What's funny (to me anyway) is that WJFK was running obnoxious spots all week featuring Norv quotes that came after Redskin losses during his tenure as coach. Karma.

That is the same way my Chargers lost their 4 games. I know---it's heartbreaking. Your guys almsot had this one.

I can't say enough about LT and his second-half effort! Nate Kaeding is going to be the death of me though!

    Re: The Redskins Thread

The Skins rolled over and played dead again. For the 500th week in a row, they completely outplay their opponent and lose. The offense goes into something a little more conservative than the religious right and the defense goes into choke mode. A 7 point lead with the ball and under 6 minutes at home should be a win.

At least they were plus three in turnovers.

Stick a fork in us. At least in other seasons, I knew we sucked. This season bothers me worse than those.

They find ways to lose. Sure there have been some horrible calls against them but those games should have been put away anyways. Other than the Giants game there are single plays that can be pointed to that show the loss.

    Denver- bogus tuck call
KC- fumble in field goal territory returned for TD
Tampa- Alstott not scoring the conversion
Oakland- fumble at the goalline that wasn't called
SD- holding penalty at the 24 yard line end of regulation

Good teams win close games. That's how I know this isn't a good team.

Yay, a win. Back to .500.

Scary that we should have whipped them by 40 or so but found ourselves sweating at 17-9 after the safety.

The worst part was how Dallas and the GiAints won.

I will be there Sunday as we take over second in the division.

My brother's was called last year. It took about 8 years. They offered seats upstairs and he asked to be put back on the list. You can refuse three times before they remove you.

You can also get tix by buying into one of the gimmicks Snyder created, Dream Seats, Tailgate Club, Obstructed view, etc. We are lucky, we are on the aisle and were even at RFK. Ironically we have seats directly across the aisle from my uncle. It's like having 4 together. It was a twist of fate though because he was two sections over at RFK. It makes dumping the preseason tix a lot easier.

    Re: The Redskins Thread

Wow. Season tix going back to RFK. Nice. I've been to 1 Redskins game in my life. Season opener in 1990 and they stomped the Cardinals 31-0. Sat in one of the endzones about 10 rows back. Got to go down and stand in the tunnel to the locker room and watch the players go by at halftime (I was 10). Shoulda seen my jaw hit the floor when Art Monk walked by. I also remember thinking I was looking Jacoby square in the kneecaps. That was one big MFer. Weren't allowed to ask for autographs, though.

Definitely want to get to FedEx, but hard living in MA now. Had thoughts of buying tickets for the Giants game on 12/24 as we'll be visiting for Christmas, but with the Skins hopefully being 8-6 for that game I couldn't justify (ie, dig up the $) paying out the nose for seats, as it'd be on top of plane tickets to get to Norfolk and then going back up to Maryland.

The backup plan of watching it in HD on my parent's big screen ain't so bad, though.

The Thomas injury was bad, considering we had the game well in hand when he got injured. Very tough game next week, but since the Bears won, we now control our destiny for a #6 seed.

Armstrong fined for cheering on Redskins

DALLAS (AP) - Mavericks guard Darrell Armstrong was so happy his beloved Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys that he grabbed a microphone before Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and hollered, "How 'bout those Redskins!"

It's going to cost him $1,000.

Dallas coach Avery Johnson announced the fine during his postgame news conference and team owner Mark Cuban later verified it was legit, much to the chagrin of a disbelieving Armstrong. The money will all go to charity, with Johnson saying the Cowboys would decide the recipient.

The Redskins wrapped up a 35-7 victory over the Cowboys shortly before the Mavericks left the locker room to play the Timberwolves.

As part of the pregame ceremonies, guard Devin Harris wished the crowd a happy holiday. Then Armstrong, who wasn't scheduled to speak, asked for the microphone. He added his holiday wishes, then made his fine-inducing proclamation, a twist on a famous line by former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson.

A mixture of laughter and boos followed, even from German import Dirk Nowitzki. Cuban laughed, too, and joked with Armstrong about it when he returned to the bench.

I saw him say it on Sportscenter. I was not really paying attention and the last thing I was expecting to hear during the highlights of T-Wolves/Mavs was that. Once it sank in that he really did say that in Dallas, I laughed my ass off. That was very WWE-ish cutting a heel promo in Dallas.
