    AL Wild Card tracker thread

With just about 7 weeks left in the season, I thought I may as well start this thread. This thread will keep pace with the teams currently chasing the Wild Card. The Yanks, Angels, A's and Indians.

Any of their games will be tracked here. Today, the Angels are in Seattle and the Twins are taking on the A's in Oakland.

Hope this thread works out the rest of the way.

2-0 Twins over A's in the top of the 6th.
5-0 Angels over Seattle in the top of the 5th.

  3. #3

Re: AL Wild Card tracker thread

Now 4-2 A's in the bottom of the 6th, and 8-0 Angels in the top of the 5th.

Where did Jay Payton suddenly turn into Manny Ramirez?

Maybe he was right - all he needed was playing time. He has certainly been a big part of the Oakland offense since he has gone there.

The Twins are such a pathetic team. I doubt we're gaining nay ground today, wild card wise.

Let's not go nuts here. Jay Payton is a much better outfielder than Manny Ramirez

Methinks this Huston Street guy is pretty nasty. Runners on 2nd and third, noone out -
and he proceeds to strike out the side. I am looking forward to seeing the A's play against the Yankees and Sox.

So today, things will change in the AL Wild Card. The Yanks, Angels and A's have all kept pace by winning today.

    Payton with Boston: .263/.313/.429
    Payton with Oakland: .273/.291/.566

The OBP is hovering near Womackian levels, but when he hits the ball, he hits the crap out of it.

Indians lost 1-0 to the DRays when Wickman gives up a solo HR to Travis Lee in the 9th. They are now 1.5 game behind the Yanks.

TB is like 5 games over since the AS break. They did us a favor this weekend in Cle but the next 3 in TB could be hellish. The Yanks will need to bring their hitting shoes.

Hey Wright got one of his two wins this year against the DRays. OF course the Yanks had to score 19 runs to get it for him.

Oh God. I thought you were joking around at first, but then I remembered that game. The offense gave him 6793922 runs to work with and he almost blew the lead. Oy vey. In Small we trust!

the Yanks hopefully remember that Fossum, Waechter, Hendrickson go for the DRays

the Yanks should score 10 runs a game off those guys in their sleep

    of course..Im expecting 3 shutouts

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

And the Yankees better not take the Devil Rays lightly. They're playin' the role of spoiler. You don't go to Tampa to win one game, you go there to win a series.

What a play by Figgins at 3rd. Just spectacular. Hopefully not game saving, but simply great. Saved two runs and a good closer coming in for the save. Damn.

Im just worried the Yanks will take this team lightly...and expect to beat the Rays with a half assed effort (something they could do in past years...but not anymore) and lose 2 of 3

The Yankees must do better against the Devil Rays full-tilt, full-hard effort against the D-Rays and play all 9 innings and beyond as a team to gain another W.

There is 0% chance the Yanks take the Rays lightly. Not with how the Rays have beat up on them this year and the fact that the Yanks NEED these games.

Their not a bad team, in that they should pose a bigger threat than the Rangers. Texas simply has nobody that can pitch right now. Tampa has merely poor pitchers, and can also hit a little.

Tampa's a below average team- but they are playing well. I think 2/3 would be fine.
