OK Guys I need a list...

Yankees recent slump has me going CRAZY! Give me your opinions on the following...

    1. Who's gonna be ready to help the club this year in July or September?
    - Cano ?
    - Wang ?
    - What about a reliever?

    2. Who's gonna be ready next year?
    - Anyway in hell Duncan be ready next year?
    - Who's the most Major League ready outfielder we have in the minors? Can he play CF? What about RF?

    1. Best bet on the relievers are buddy groom, who needs to be up by may 1st or he can request his release and colter bean. Many around these parts like proctor but i am not a fan.

    2. Duncan won't be ready next year. Melky Cabrera could be the future in cf but he is only 20 and at trenton he won't be playing CF for the yankees next year.

Damn....looks like that revamping of our minor league system and philosophy on developing young talent is little too late to help with a transition to this team.

What's Colter Bean's story? What kind of a pitcher is he?

Saw baseball america's quick assessment of him....Forget bean...He's big, fat, sidearming mid 80's flat fastball pitcher who gets killed by ML hitting....

colter bean is a cute story but hes gotten smacked around both times in spring training. he'll be a fine AAA reliever but i dont see any success for him in the majors.

As a Sox fan, I am glad the front office shares your opinion on Colter Bean! I actually think he could be quite good. I have not paid attention to his spring training stats at any point, but I put a lot more stock in his dominating AAA performance. Last year he struck out 109 batters, walked 23, and allowed 3 HRs in 82.2 IP. That's pretty dominant. I would be clamoring for the Yankees to dump washed up dreck like Karsay and give this guy a shot. To start off in 2005, Bean has 8 Ks, 1 BB, 0 HRs, 2 H in 5.2 IP, 0.00 ERA. He may be fat, he may not throw all that hard, but the point of the game is to get guys out, not necessarily look good in a uniform while you are doing that. Bean is good at getting guys out.

I also wouldn't worry too much about Duncan at this point. He is hitting .158/.158/.283 right now, but it's early and he's one of the youngest players in the Eastern League. Plus, how can you expect him to hit well after playing the mighty 10-0 Portland SeaDogs?

With the contracts of Gordon, Quantrill, Stanton, Karsay and F-Rod all expiring after 2005, I would say that there will be many openings in the Yankees pen next season. A guy like Groom, if he gets lefties out, will get a shot. A guy like Bean will get a shot, but needs to dominate in ST to actually make it.

In the news it only mention that he is 40ish, what are his numbers in AAA.

You do know that Groom is a 39 year old veteren, not a prospect. He has no future with us beyond this year.

Bean doesnt need to dominate s/t, he just needs to not get absolutely shelled like hes done the last 2 years.
