Questions
1) Why are teams allowed to claim FA on the DL then add them on their roster and put them on the DL.
I don't think this is fair. Owners are allowed to add extra players without penalty of losing an active player, then the assign to the DL, so they can wait until they come off the DL and either activate them or release them. I think this is BS.
2) Where in the Constitution does it say I can't demote someone I drafted who was not on the active roster for opening day, but assigned to AAA? Very similar to the McPherson situation.
I read where it said ineligible players must be made public before the season starts, but hell haven't had home internet for 5 days and wasn't aware of this year.

Yeah, this is a quirk in the Sportsline system. In Yahoo, you have to drop a player to add one if your roster is full -- even if he's on the DL. Sportsline allows you to have illegal rosters, so you can add players and immediately DL them.Originally Posted by boo_427
Fair? Maybe not. But with no bench, you know the team will have to make a roster decision in the next couple of weeks when the player comes off the DL.
I still want to know where in the constitution it says we can't add minor leaguers to our Minors roster if someone is promoted, traded or released. (Because if it doesn't we should be allowed to...in the other league we always say, you can't make rules once the season starts that affects that season...)
Fantasy Baseball: Larrupin' Lou's; New York Knights.
If someone is going to drop an injured player, he is free for anyone to take and stick on the DL.
Besides, there's always someone on your team that you can drop and replace with a comparable player. So even if this hole would be plugged, there are ways around it. Take a look at the bottom of your roster, there's probably 20 guys in the FA pool as valuable as your worst guy.

Many of us feel that ST rosters shouldn't count, but in this case, for this season, the commish is our USSC and interprets the rules...

My issue is that I drafted a minor leaguer. Now, Snatch says that I can't demote him to the minors and pick up an active major leaguer.
I don't think this is fair that I have to drop Edwin Jackson even though no one else can claim him, because he was demoted. I think we should be allowed to send a player drafted in the auction that didn't make the opening day roster.
From the "Constitution"
12.1. A team may replace any player on its 23-man roster who has been placed on the Disabled List, sent down to the Minor Leagues, been designated for assignment, or been released by his major league team.
13.9. Once a player is activated, waived or reserved from the minor league roster, he cannot be put back on the minor league roster. The only way a player can return to a minor league roster is if he is drafted in a subsequent season's minor league draft.
Very contradicting!!!

I'm in agreement that it should be changed. However, I don't think we should make changes during a current season. Any changes we make, should affect 2006 and beyond.Originally Posted by boo_427

If you paid for someone in the auction, they can never again be part of your 4 minor league roster slots.
Edwin Jackson never made the team. Therefore, he cannot be "demoted". He was optioned to the minor leagues after spring training. Spring training is a neutral point. Edwin Jackson starts the year in AAA (I think); this is the point from which everything else is gauged.
If he gets called up, he is promoted. If he then gets sent back to the minors, he is demoted, but right now, he is in the minor leagues. He was not on the 25 man roster. He has not had major league standing this year, and thus could not have been "demoted". This makes him ineligible to be put on reserve.

No...we have minors. We have no way to protect players who are sent to the minors who are not minor league eligible, or who are suspended or released. That's not the same as a reserve list, as defined in the constitution.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch

So then McPherson et al should be allowed to be placed on a reserve list! Why not just activate RESERVE, to differentiate between people on reserve and in the minors?
Fantasy Baseball: Larrupin' Lou's; New York Knights.
The reason is that having the "reserve" function active on Sportsline leads to the ability to have illegal rosters by accident, yet still earn stats.Originally Posted by Big_E

In the original league, anyone who you wanted to put on the DL before the season started had to be announced in a thread, with proof of the player's injury before they could be put on the DL.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch
You could run the Reserve list the same way here. Anyone who you want to put on Reserve has to be announced here and approved by the Commissioner. If you find anyone on Reserve who was not approved, you can use your commissioner powers to release them. I think we can trust people here to use the Honor System.

I don't disagree with this, its just that most times it isn't about honor; its about making a simple mistake that wouldn't have been made if the system wouldn't let you. Thats my only concern...Originally Posted by Big_E

But you can correct those as commissioner. Give the 'offender' 48 hours to fix the mistake, or you'll fix it for them as you see fit. I don't think it will be a problem if you stress that all Reserve moves have to be annouced and approved. And reserve players don't earn points, anyway, so it doesn't affect things in such a critical way.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch

Reserve players do not earn points, but any roster error nullifies any point THE ENTIRE ROSTER collects as long as the error is present.Originally Posted by Big_E

Not having the reserve function makes this chance impossible.
I will open it up though to accomadate those that want to have the option. Keep in mind that the only players that can be put on reserve are demoted major leaguers or players that are released. It will be a rarity (if ever) that someone who is worth a fantasy league roster spot would be released or demoted.
Demoted is more likely, but in that case I can just expand the minor league options.
