You have to give them an awfuk lot of credit. If any team had a reason to just pack a season in it would be the Nets. They have been short handed for a long time and have been playing great. I'd be surprised if they didn't win the division. Wow.Originally Posted by uconnhoopz123

Nah, I'll pass.
Even though they are crap right now, it's still all about the Lake Show...and LeBron--good grief, he is The MAN. Is there anyone out there who doesn't love LeBron? I don't see how it's possible not to.

Until he rips the heart out of a team numerous times.. like MJ to the knicks. But then again, i never hated MJ. I think Lebron will have the same characteristics throughout his career.
as for the N-E-T-S chants, cue the bandwagon ...
They are an intresting team. They have been playing so undermanned it is sick. Most nights the can only dress 8 or 9 guys. Vince has been amazing. He is back to Vinsanity. He does it all. Shoots the ball, drives to the hole, and passess great. Did you see what he did in LA the other night.Originally Posted by JDPNYY

How's their shooting been from long range? If they need a future upgrade, they should check this kid out.
He hit a 90 foot desperation shot at the end of the game to win it.

Nets got SHAFTED on that 2nd technical on Vince the other night. If they had Vince, I think they would have won that game.
Last week was a week of shafting. First Ian Eagle, then Vince.
This is what other teams are going to do all season long to the Nets. Get to Carter. The game before that one, against the Lakers, Chris Mihm(SP) pulled a flagrant foul on Vince.Originally Posted by deranged2005

It was a steal from the get-go. It's turning into the second greatest trade in Nets history...behind the Marbury for Kidd trade. Did you see the Denver-Nets game? I heard the fans gave K-Mart a well deserved standing ovationOriginally Posted by yankeegeek

Don't get me wrong: I love watching him play and jumping out of my seat when he does something incredible, but you have to be honest and objective here.
If he remains injury prone, then the 2 1st rounders they gave up for him loom huge.
If he contnues to remain healthy and play the way he has recently, then it is a steal.

I'm not worried about the 2 first rounders because the Nets still have 2 first rounders in next year's draft and the way Philly and The Clippers are playing, the Raps won't use those picks for another two years. I can understand the injury part and the quitting part. However, He was traded to what was a last place team in the Nets, and Richard Jefferson is gone for the season. VC could have quit on the team at that moment. I believe he just wanted to get out of the Raptors.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch

Jefferson goes down with an injury. You hear no complaints from the players. No excuses. They pick up Carter REAL CHEAP. Now they are the team to beat. The most feared team in the division. The Knicks loose Houston and all the excuses come. The Nets played many games this season with less than 10 men available and still win games.
The true difference is Kidd. He is a winner and Meberry isn't.

this is the best ball Carter has played since the 2001 Playoffs....when he single-handedly beat the Knicks in 5, and almost beat the Sixers in 7....he is just playing awesome bball
I hope they get in....and I hope Jefferson can come back and give them an added boost against the Heat
with that said....the Heat will beat them in 5

On the bright side, the Knicks just got rid of any hope of coming out from under the cap by acquiring Malik Rose and Maurice Taylor.
It's a pretty good accomplishment if the Nets make the playoffs. However they will most likely get swept by the Heat in the 1st round. VC is pretty amazing. I never realized he was that good of an outside shooter and passer too.
I used to like the Nets, but ever since they got VC I will hate them for enternity, VC is not worthy of the breath he takes. This is a guy who was given a great contract, had an entire team that relied on him for leadership and was the face of a franchise, and yet he admitted he did not give 100% basically ever; was always injured and never in a rush to come back. I have no respect what so ever for VC, he is a waste of a human.Originally Posted by rock

The future of this team is incredible. Jefferson will be back at full strength next season. Nenad Kristic will improve from his terrific rookie season. You have Vince and Kidd. They need a PF. This summer they will have cap room for a good PF. Swift or Shareef are the targets for the Nets. Plus they have 2 picks in the draft. Not bad.

Maybe if Shaq is at 50% with his thigh injury, Nets will have a chance.

Let the kids play.
A triple double is 10 or more points, 10 or more boards, and ten or more assists.Originally Posted by Bub

And it comes down to one game. How friggin' awsome is this. If the Nets win tomorrow,in Boston, they are in. If they loose and the Cav's loose they are in. If the Nets loose and the Cavs win the Nets are out. Game 82 and it is all on the line!!!

I have seen quadruple-doubles before...not common at all....I remember Olajuwon getting one sometime during the 90s, pretty sure it was points/rebounds/assists/blocks
actually Tim Duncan almost got one in Game 6 of the 2003 Finals against the Nets....I believe he had 23 points 20 rebounds 10 assists and about 8 blocks

anyway, I went to that game and watching Kidd up close and what he did with Martin, Jefferson and making them and all the other guys so much better around him, I was totally on their bandwagon from that night on...I'm still not as huge a fan of basketball as I am of baseball, but that team and their style of play got me able to watch an entire game...maybe your son is attracted to that energy and style of play too.![]()

Does anyone know when they're being moved to Brooklyn?

Some conspiracy theories being tossed around about tonight on WFAN:
1) Will Doc Rivers stand by what he said about not playing Pierce and Walker any significant minutes, especially in the 4th quarter? Will he be pressured by the players, fans and front office to play them to try to knock the Nets out of the playoffs because of bad history?
I don't think that will happen -- they would look pretty bad since they just did that the night before and it doesn't even guarantee the Nets would be out even if they lost...
2) Will the Celtics be pressured by the league to play their stars tonight full minutes to get a better chance at getting Lebron in the playoffs -- especially vs Shaq? Have the league told the officials tonight that they'd rather have Lebron's Cavs in than the Nets?
I don't see this happening either...what happens if one of them gets hurt -- then what can the league say...also, what's better for the league -- Lebron and a team of nobodies in the playoffs or Kidd and Carter? I think they have a better shot of making it a series than the Cavs do...if they said anything to the officials, well that's just effed up...
3) Will Toronto lie down against the Cavs to hurt Carter's chances of going to the playoffs?
Can't see that happening either...but who knows...they seemed pretty ticked this year as did their fans this week and I can't say I blame them...I just don't see them doing that...
I'm not really one for conspiracy theories I guess but this should be an interesting night in basketball...
