LOL. It ain't stalking. You put that stuff on there so people can see it. Stalking is following someone home from school/work everyday.

Ok, so I joined MySpace recently...do you think they have researched how many people have gotten fired from their job since joining??? The lack of production is amazing...I also joined the NYYFans group, so if you want to see what I look like, I'm there

I'm in the NYYFans group too. I have a pic in the group photos of me and my girlfriend watching a Yankees spring training game. Needless to say we're the hottest people on that groups list. I'm so modest.

Its undeniable. You turn on the evening news and theres some anchor woman talking about how this kid learned how to build a bomb ... on myspace.. or this other girl learned how to hide her Bulimia from her parents... on myspace its craziness. Arnt there any moderator types on these things??

    Why should there be moderators?

    Why?

Not only MySpace.com, but the entire internet should be moderated because it is being used for things other than what it was designed for! And anyway, people don't seem to have a problem with the government "moderating" what you watch on TV or listen to on the radio... The one thing, in our country, that should be moderated is the internet. Far too much "bad stuff" on the internet for kids to get into trouble with....

So if some psycho kid is on myspace and they are typing out directions on how to build a pipebomb. There could be a moderator that sees this and either cautions the owner of that profile or bands him/her completely. I know its a crazy example but you get the idea... If you dont agree thats ok. I just like my surroundings... pipebomb free.

Well, Myspace does have moderator's on their site. They check profiles for pornographic pictures and things like that. I'm guessing that they would also be looking for any content that has to do with someone potentially harming someone else.

But, I think Myspace is getting a bad rap here. It's not like there isnt a TON of other websites on the net where you can find out how to build a bomb or where kids can find out how to hide certain things from their parents. It's not like it's the first place where sexual predators have stalked under age kids (Face The Jury, The Dilly, Hot or Not, etc were all far more popular before Myspace put a strangle hold on the whole net community website thing).

Bottom line, they cant stop everyone. Sometimes, hell it should be all the time, it's up to these kid's parents to do some parenting themselves to find out what the hell their kid is doing. If parents want their kids to be 'secure' on the internet, they should use AOL.

I'm sure Tom could afford to pay people to moderate considering the huge payday he got from selling the site to News Corp. (580mil)

He did it a while ago (7/19/2005). To his credit, he's stayed with the site and even though there are constant rumors about how the place is going to turn into a paysite, it's untrue.

There is more ad's on there now, but it's still the same site it was when it started. I dont blame the guy, I'd sell out for that kind of scratch too. I dont think there's a person in here that wouldnt.

    Re: MySpace.com ?

My friend's daughter just got into some deep doodoo over something she wrote on her myspace. It wasn't a direct threat, but it some not very nice things wished on a kid she doesn't like. The one who wrote it is 18 and the kid it was about is still in HS so the kid showed it to the police and they said they could arrest my friend's daughter for aggravated harrassment.
Luckily, nothing happened and she took it off her site, but this just shows how kids think they can write anything they want online and it doesn't matter.

We can barely keep up with all the postings on this site, which pales in comparison to the amount of activity on MySpace. There would be no way to effectively moderate that site.

A lot of people are asking what the appeal of myspace and friendster and stuff like that are.

I always wished I coulda had a baseball card. Something that had my DOB and some info about me.

Friendster and MySpace let me create a page that's essentially my baseball card. I can put what I've done over the years, what I've been doing lately, etc.

Do I really think anyone cares? Not so much. Its a little like decorating your locker in 6th grade or spending money on a personal ring tone. I guess it has no real PURPOSE but for some reason its fun to express yourself through saying what stuff you like.

But other than tweaking my profile and keeping tabs on my friends, I don't really know what you DO with it. Its not like I'm meeting amazing new people with common interests every single day or anything like that.

I think many people use it as a tool for one night stands. Have you ever read some of the crap some people have on their profiles? Seen some of the pictures? If I had to choose this forum or myspace, I'd HAVE to choose NYYFans mainly because it would do no harm to me. Myspace is freaking scary and full of sin!

She used to be(might still be) an import car model. She's one of the few that look smoking hot in pictures AND in real life(I've seen her w/o makeup on).
