How the (formerly) mighty have fallen...

Last year, Jason Giambi was a first round pick in our draft.
This year in the commissioner.com mock draft (here) he was drafted in the 22nd round! (254th pick overall).

I know he's not expected to be taken in the first round this year, or even in the first five rounds...but 22nd?

17 other 1B were taken ahead of him this year.

    Wow.

I would be willing to bet he's picked well before that in our draft, but that is surprising. I was going to check out that Fantasy Draft later on.

254th would be 12th round, 14th pick in our draft. We should make that the over/under for Giambi.

I'll say he goes quite a bit earlier, if only because of the Yankee aspect. That's my official pick.

Probably, plus we'll have the advantage of a month's worth of ST to evaluate how he's doing. They had to draft a month BEFORE pitchers and catchers even report...I have Giambi in another keeper league, and I don't think I'll be wasting one of my first five picks (keepers are automatically drafted 1-5) on him.

    Albert Pujols (1B STL)
    Jim Thome (1B PHI)
    Todd Helton (1B COL)
    David Ortiz (1B BOS)
    Mark Teixeira (1B TEX)
    Carlos Delgado (1B FA)
    Richie Sexson (1B SEA)
    Justin Morneau (1B MIN)
    Sean Casey (1B CIN)
    Paul Konerko (1B CHW)
    Derrek Lee (1B FLA)
    Lyle Overbay (1B MIL)
    Mike Sweeney (1B KC)
    Jeff Bagwell (1B HOU)
    Phil Nevin (1B SD)
    Dmitri Young (1B DET)
    Casey Kotchman (1B ANA)
    Jason Giambi (1B NYY)

I wouldn't put him in front of many of these guys myself. The only ones would probably be:
    Phil Nevin (1B SD)
    Dmitri Young (1B DET)
    Casey Kotchman (1B ANA)
    Lyle Overbay (1B MIL)

Also, in some leagues he might not qualify at first.

He played 47 games at first (according to commissioner.com: http://nyyfanscom.baseball.sportslin...igibility/7633) last year...I don't know of any league that requires 50 games to qualify at a position...
