Can we agree that Little Bill has taken the mantle of BIG BILL now?
Although if I were a Jet fan I would still be stung by..not HC of the NYJ or whatever the fax said.
I wonder if Belli snickers like an evil genius every time Parcells fails without him.

And Drew Henson fumbles on his first snap as an NFL quaterback. Thanks for the memories Drew.
To be fair, he did lead a touchdown drive, which is more than Testeverde can say today.
One of my brothers is a Cowboys fan, and he's been griping all week, ever since Giants' coach Tom Coughlin replaced Kurt Warner with Eli Manning, that Henson should be playing instead of Vinny. I agree with him that Parcells should have had Drew start the game. The Cowboys' season is going nowhere, anyway, and the only way Henson is going to learn is actually getting to play, instead of sitting on the sidelines when Parcells' geezer QB plays.Originally posted by Mattingly Sideburns

The Dallas Cowboys offense has stunk this season. TE Jason Witten has been the only shining light in that offense.
The Cowboys way overachieved last season. They went from too much to too little in 1 season.

Yup. 6/6, 47 yards, TD. 1 "key" rush for 7 yards. He showed some kind of poise in there, good at stepping up in the pocket and staying calm. Love what I saw (then again, I loved what I saw the second I saw him go at it first-hand in training camp over the summer--I expected nothing less). I've been one of those griping for Henson for over a month now, but now I can understand why Parcells was protecting him. He kept talking about "not wanting to lose the player", not wanting to "hurt the player", and acting in "the team's best interests and the player's best interests," with respect to Henson. Well, whether or not the team's and the player's best interests coincided in this decision is debatable, but not throwing Drew to the dogs right away, especially with the attitude around football now, was probably for the best (let's face it--Troy Aikman's 0-11 rookie performance wouldn't have been quite so allowable today. It's sad.). He DID get a little bit of extra preparation this week, as Vinny sat out Thursday's practice with the flu. Bill wanted to give Drew every opportunity NOT to fail, and when he doesn't end up getting chased out of town for going 0-and-whatever as a ROOKIE, I'll be really grateful--that we didn't lose our future by being too hasty in the present. I'm ready for the future to start now.
And we did not way overachieve. I will forever believe that, had Quincy been the one to lead us through this season, and Woody not been injured, things would be a lot different. I was 100% confident in my 11-5 prediction. But Quincy's not around, Woody hasn't come back (I never undervalued him, but I can't believe what's happened without him), Campbell's versatility has been sorely missed, Glenn went down for the season, the next great Dallas #88 was traded out of town, Julius just came back this week from having gone down in week 2, and it's been a revolving door at corner opposite Terence Newman. No one counted on a single one of these things happening. What SHOULD have been completely breaks my heart, throws the pieces on the ground, stomps on them, lights the remains on fire, and scatters the ashes with a leafblower. But at least I've got Drew to look forward to now.

Nothing would thrill me more than to see Drew Henson completely flunk in the NFL.

He was a waste on NY Yankee time and money and was a hindrance to many moves we could have made while we "waited" for him. I too hope he falls flat on his face.Originally posted by Donnybaseball72

Chicago vs Dallas, Thanksgiving Day
Drew hasn't started a game in four years. The Bears are playing to keep their slim playoff hopes alive and Dallas is just plain pitiful, and they're not playing well either. I like the Bears chances. Let the flunking begin.
I harbor no ill-will towards Drew Henson. It's not his fault he couldn't make it. He loved the Yankees, and probably wanted to succeed just as much as we wanted him to.
That being said, the Cowboys suck, and I wouldn't mind seeing them lose out the rest of the season.

ditto, i hope Henson totally flunks, Eli Manning has more potential then he does

Nice assessment. I totally agree about Quincy and Woody. Losing them really effected the team's play and psyche more than Cowboy fans want to admit. Nice to see there is another Cowboys fan on the board like myself. I'm just hopeful that Drew is everything good.Originally posted by DaBoys4LifeNYY35

You're right on this. I went to the Packer game a month ago with a Cowboys travel group, so I met lots of fellow fans. It was about a week or two after the Bryant trade, and my brother drew lots of comments for wearing his Carter jersey to the game. Everyone but us was still drinking the "Well, if Tuna says it's right then it's right" kool-aid about both of those moves. Of course, I was too up to a certain point, but the Bryant trade is what put me over the edge. I'm still "In Tuna We Trust", but in a very skeptical fashion. I AM confident he'll get things going in the right direction again next season though.Originally posted by YankeeFan1

I'm also, "in Tuna we trust" woman. However, when he cut Quincy, I knew that a 41 year old qb with a back up who hadn't played for 3 years wasn't a good thing. I agreed with the Bryant trade, myself. That guy hasn't done ................ since he was drafted. He never became consistent, dropped a hell of a lot of balls and ran terrible routes. Plus, Bryant had the nerve to have a bad attitude.Originally posted by DaBoys4LifeNYY35

I am confident that Parcells won't make the same mistakes in the upcoming off season. He will make sure to upgrade before cutting the "supposed" dead weight. Letting Mario Edwards and Ekuban go turned out to horrible mistakes when their replacements turned out not to be upgrades at the positions.
Unfortunately, I don't think that Woody will be back though. What a loss! Now only Larry Allen remains as our last link to the championship years. I'll miss Woody as much as I miss the other guys. At that Monday night, my heart hurt watching the ineptitude on the field, while our guys in the stands watching the games. I wanted to see Troy, Moose, Emmitt, Nate Newton (did you know that he was at the game?He is out of jail, probably on parole. Thank goodness), Michael, Ken Norton, Jr., Charles Haley, Leon Lett and our other guys (even Deion) to suit up and come help the team out.

Question for you: is it true that the real reason Drew Henson is getting so little playing time because the Cowboys will be on the hook for more money in his contract? I heard that today, and I thought you might know the answer. Thanks!Originally posted by DaBoys4LifeNYY35

His $3.5 million dollars in deferred bonuses are all roster bonuses. What playing time will do for him would be to allow his contract to be voided halfway through, after 4 years.Originally posted by NYCVirago

Jerry Jones, who signs the checks, has been almost literally begging for Parcells to play Drew, so one can infer from that that no one's got anything of the sort in the back of their heads. We're in a great cap situation for next season anyway.

Thanks for the info. I read Jerry's quotes in the paper today, and he definitely sounds like he's behind playing Henson. I don't know what Parcells is thinking here -- you don't embarrass your future starting QB like that by taking him out at halftime during the nationally televised Thanksgiving game.Originally posted by DaBoys4LifeNYY35

As for the talk in this thread insinuating that anybody rooting for the Cowboys is a frontrunner, last time I checked, the real front-runner Cowboys fans jumped off that bandwagon in the 90s. Anybody rooting for Dallas now is not exactly basking in the glory of victory after victory!![]()
Well why are there so many non-Giants/Jets fans in NYC? Everyone roots for either the Yank/Mets, the Knicks and one of the 3 Hockey teams but when it comes to football it seems like there are fans of every team but the Giants and Jets. This really bugs me.

Yes you do. You pull your QB if he is 4/12 with an int returned for a TD if you want to win. Parcells is no dummy. He wants to win! He made the right move, something Coughlin should have done to Warner mid game against the Cards and Bears.Originally posted by NYCVirago

I'm not from NYC so DonnyBaseball72's gripe doesn't apply to me (it wouldn't anyway since, if you check my profile, my dad's side of the family is from Texas), but when I go to Yanks games, I do sit with a small contingent of fellow diehard Cowboys fans in the right field bleachers, who I got to know one day when I wore my Cowboys jacket to the game. The rest of them ARE New Yorkers![]()
You can't complain about this unless you complain about the myriad Yankees fans who come from outside New York. The Lakers are the only insanely successful franchise I can think of who still has a very, very regionalized fanbase (as in, very few outside a 200-mile radius of the city).

Vinny had an interception as well. Besides, Julius Jones, not Vinny, was the real hero of the win. The fans, the media, and the owner all want Henson to play -- it's only Parcells, with his vaunted "comfort level" with Testaverde, who thinks playing a QB older than God is a good idea.Originally posted by Donnybaseball72

Coughlin has the right idea -- it's better to find out now if your QB of the future has what it takes, then wait until next year to do so. Both the Cowboys and Giants have pretty slim chances of making the playoffs this season. Their QBs of the future will only learn how to play by playing, not standing on the sidelines with a clipboard.
Because football is more of a national sport than baseball is. And for fans of a certain age, they didn't even ever get to see Giants and Jets home games live in the 70s, due to lousy ticket sales having the blackout rule enacted for home games. So they grew up watching, and rooting for, other teams.Originally posted by Donnybaseball72

The Giants have sold out every game they have played since moving to NJ in 1976 so there were no blackouts. The Jets also have a similar sellout streak. The reason I have been given is that those of us who grew up in the 70's got fed up with the inept play of both the Giants and Jets that young fans became fans of the Cowboys, Steelers and Dolphins. I was fortunite enough to be to young for the 70's and started really watching football in 81 when LT was a rookie and the Giants made the playoffs for the first time in 18 years.Originally posted by NYCVirago

Not actually all THAT slim, considering how bad the NFC is. We're 4-7, and we're still not out of it. That's why Parcells is playing Vinny, according to him. If/when we are mathematically out of it OR when Vinny gets injured again, whichever comes first, that's when we'll definitely see Drew again. Before then, it's up in the air.Originally posted by NYCVirago
