    Yanks fans rooting for Sox?

You can be anonymous, but like patricko stated in another thread, how cool it would be for his red sox friends to finally win for once. So, any other Yanks fans rooting for the Sox?

I always root for the AL (never for those pitcher-hitting mongoloids), but I don't think I'll be able to watch much.

I'm not queasy anymore, but it feels like I was kicked in the face still.

I have a lot of friends who have suffered through a lot of anquish and heart break rooting for the Sox and I would like to see them win one. I plan on rooting for them, although sometimes old habits die hard.

I can't see me rooting for our rivals. I am sooo sick to my stomach right now so I now understand how it feels to be a Sox fan. So in a way I wont mind seeing Boston win, but I cant root for them.
    Hoping Rivera can pitch forever!

Exactly. NO NO NO NO AND HELL NO. I've tried rooting for the Sox before in a meaningless game in 2002 that had no effect on the playoffs 'cause I got free tickets behind home plate...couldn't do it. It's just not possible.

As a Yankee fan, I cannot in good faith ever root for the Red Sox. Ever. Hey, give them their props for coming back from 0-3 and taking the series. But that doesn't mean I will ever root for them to win. And considering how giddy the Sox fans were when we lost the World Series last year, I think the feeling is mutual.

On the one hand, it would be good for the Sox to win a WS, because then Sox fans could no longer go around acting like they're somehow morally superior and the better fans because they root for losers. They would be just like fans of any other winning team, with all their bandwagoners.
But I NEVER root for the American League team if it's not the Yanks, so I definitely won't be this year.

Yankees/RS is ying/yang. Where the hell would we be if we start rooting for each other's teams? Its like the Dodgers/Cards handshake in the NLDS, its just wrong. I can tell you no RS fan would EVER consider rooting for the Yanks under any circumstances.

Its like in 2001 when some mediots were saying it was ok for everyone to root for the Yankees now, because of 9/11. Please! How patronizing! We don't need anyone to root for our team out of sympathy. Its sports people, its about competition, pick a side and stick with it.

If they win the WS - and I'm rooting for the NL - it will be their victory to savor. I don't want any part of a RS victory, period.

On one hand I say no because the jackass fans will be all smarmy and make my life hell, but on the other hand, if they win maybe they'll freaking relax a little bit and stop being such wound up, bitter people.

I don't believe this... this is like the whole Michigan fans rooting for Ohio State in the BCS title game because they're from the same conference... I'll root for the Red Sox when hell freezes over or when I die, whichever comes first.

I'd rather eat a rusty nail and broken glass salad with motor oil dressing than root for the Boston Red Sox.

Congrats for winning but that's all you get from me.

There would be a consolation if they won. All their fans would stop cheering for them because their entire fandom is based on how great they are for sticking by a perrenial loser. They'd all become Cubs fans.

I congradulate the Sox for beating us, because they deserved to, but, I'd rather drive a hot poker through my ears than root for them.

    Go team playing the Sox!

They have their own damn fans. If they win, they'll enjoy it, I would NOT want to be a Yankee fan that enjoys a Sox WS Win, posing as a pseudo-Red Sox fan. That's why there's ................ing teams.

I didn't root for the Yanks that year, I just didn't root against them. It wasn't patronizing, it was wanting something good to a great city that had just been through hell. If it had been the Mets, you would have seen a similar reaction. I think we in DC undertood that better than most.

The only player I can tolerate on the Red Sox is Johnny Damon. I think the rest of them our clowns. So no. I can't root for them. I'll be sitting there with my Curt Schilling voodoo doll and sticking pins into his ankle when he pitches.

Hell no. I hope the Sox never win a WS in my lifetime.

  41. #41
It's been quite a while since I rooted for a National League team in the WS. The year was 1986.
I respect the Red Sox for playing better than the Yanks did, but rooting for them is another matter altogether.

I root for the Yankees. If they're not in it, I don't root. Everything besides the Yanks is irrelevant. Although the thought of Roger winning Gm 7 at Fenway is tempting....

Hell yeah. We can still hold it over their heads that they've never won the big show (at least not since WWI). All that goes out the window if they beat the Cards. Maybe some of you are bigger and better human beings than I. But it doesn't really bother me that I am very vindictive in this respect.

Also, I want to get back at the ................er (whoever it is) who graffitied my cubicle in dry erase marker on 4 separate occasions today. ("Arod is a fraud," "Kiss my ass Yankee Doodle Boy," etc.) Bastards. And this is Dallas. Condolences to those of you in New England.

It doesn't matter as long as your team isn't there when they should've been.

You can root for the Sox to make Red Sox Nation stop crying and whining about how cursed they are.

You can root for St. Louis because, let's face it, we hate Boston.

Either way...the Yankees aren't there so I really couldn't care less. A 7-game series is so difficult to really tune in if you're indifferent to either team.
