7.Uconn(lost okafor and gordon but still have boone, villanueva, anderson and gay plus a very very deep bench)
8.Oklahoma State(John Lucas III is a great PG)
9.Mississippi State(Return of Lawrence Roberts helps)
10.NC State(Senior Julius Hodge should step up and lead this team like he has the last 3 years)

    1st Team all american

    Chris Paul
    sean banks
    julius hodge
    Hakim warrick
    Chris Taft

    4.Illinois
    5.Uconn
    6.Oklahoma State

Go Cowboys!! Oklahoma State should be a force this year. I, too, would give the nod to Kansas in the Big Twelve. I think we have two potential All-Americans, John Lucas, as you mentioned and Joey Graham. Coming off the Final Four we only lost one player. Of course, he was a first round pick of the Boston Celtics -- Tony Allen. Can't wait for roundball. But hey, our football team is going pretty well right now (5-0) so I don't want it to get here too fast!!

Good breakdown in the original post.

    Go Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was born in Lexington KY. Have always been a big fan of the Wildcats. I bet we both hate Duke though. So I have rooted for UCONN, both the mens and the womens teams. I hope KY can do better than 9th, but as we can do better in march. We recruited 3 Mcdonalds All-Americans this year stealing one from Pitino (still think he's the best coach out there)so we will be young. Here's to beating Duke.

I entered the lottery to get my baseline student tickets today. Not that anybody cares about basketball here, but if they did, I could tell them I had baseline tickets.

I say College Basketball is a better alternative than the NBA, IMHO. You get more upsets in College b-ball and the players don't brag about $$$$$ like in the NBA. College basketball is more team orientated.

It also doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get into a college basketball game. I got courtside seats for the PC Friars, season Tix= $70. Not too shabby

How the mighty have fallen. I remember those Fab 5 Teams Michigan used to have. They got me into watching College Basketball. NIT Champs is not bad, they could probably beat some of the teams in the NCAA Tournament.

yeh well of course they could beat teams in the NCAA tournament because a lot of the teams in the tournament just make it from an automatic bid because theyre in a week conference such as teams like Liberty

Id say michigan could have beaten about 20 of the teams in the ncaa tournament

I just got back from Maryland's Midnight Madness. Gary Williams topped himself, riding in a NASCAR racecar into the Comcast Center. Last year he rode a Harley. Next year, I'm predicting a tank.

Led by Gilchrist, I think this team is ready for another run at the Final Four. They have the backup pointguard they lacked last season in freshman Sterling Ledbetter. They also have replaced and perhaps upgraded the power positions. With Jamar Smith gone, the Terps have So. Hasan Fofana ready to step in, and So. Ekene Ibekwe and Fr. James Gist showing big time potential from the power forward slot. Ibekwe has already proven to be a dominant defensive force on the inside, and was near the top of the ACC in blocks as a freshman.

Jr. Nik Caner-Medley, So. Mike Jones, and Ibekwe definitely appear to have put on a lot of muscle over the summer. If Caner-Medley can avoid foul trouble, a problem last season, he can get back on track to be the slashing offensive presence he appeared to be in his freshman season. Jones is a pure shooter, and the defensive wizard, So. D.J. Strawberry (son of Darryl), was hitting all his 3-pointers in the scrimmage tonight. The outside game was his only real weakness last season.

The Terps are currently #10 in the ESPN poll, and like I said I think they can be a force come March. The ACC will definitely be the conference to beat overall. Wake, UNC, Tech, NC State, and Maryland are all Top 10 caliber teams right now, and I don't think it would surprise anyone if Duke was near the top come year's end.
If someone offers you 10,000:1 odds on anything, you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I will be a very rich man.

How will the Pirates do with a replacement for Barrett? I don't think Copeland is the answer, but I hope I'm wrong.

The anticipation is rising here in Johnson City, Tennessee. Without the football team around people are really starting to look forward to the basketball season. We got a few rough games against top 25 teams early in the season, and then we finish with the ESPN bracketbuster Saturday game at the end of the season.
Tim Smith will be in the next issue of SI. I wonder if they asked him about that Lexus he's driving around?

Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is great, if for no other reason than that there's always a top-10 team that comes out of it with an early loss. Who will it be this year?

SU crushed No. Colorada last night, 104-54. I must say that Syracuse plays the easiest early season schedule that I have ever seen, regularly. Before the Big East schedule starts, the only meaningful game is versus OSU. Despite the easy early schedule, I think this will be the best SU team ever. They are one of my favorites to make it to the Final Four.

Boeheim has made a habit of scheduling a December full of local creampuffs at home, ostensibly to build his team's confidence going into league play. I agree that the team looks fantastic. Granted, the game was against Northern Colorado...but they still looked really good.

If you're in the Northeast, NESN and FSNY are broadcasting Quinnipiac vs. Pennsylvania. Watch it, good mid-major basketball, Tuesday at 7 pm. Should be fun.
