If the Red Sox Win the World Series.... What would you guys do?

Hypothetical question here...but let's just say.... the Red Sox win the World Series this year. What will you do? Will any of you politely applaud or maybe just nod in appreciation... I'm just curious....

You always have to respect the World Series winner. Especially when they look this good.

If it's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas.

    I CAN'T WAIT FOR ALCS !

I know what kind of pitcher Whitey was and kind of person he is. It makes me feel proud to be a Yankee. We're keeping this in the family. (On breaking Whitey's PS consecutive scoreless innings)

    I'd be very upset.

There are a number of things I would do in a short amount of time since armaggedon would be upon us.

In all seriousness, if this happened, coupled with the fact Penn State and the Packers are struggling, I'd be well beyond mental devastation. I don't think many of us as Yankee fans are mentally prepared or capable of dealing with Boston winning the World Series.

You always have to be prepared. I'll dust off my standard reply to Mets fans.

I think that the members of the team have awkward personalities and don't know when to shut their mouths

I really respect Wakefield and Pokey Reese, after that, the line is thin

    that is funny but true
i had a patient who in 1999 was failing, just tired of life with multiple problems and just worn down. he was a die hard sox fan, and was 93 and was 12 and at two of the ws in 1918. when the sox came back from being down 0-2 from cleveland he came back to life, he was sad by the loss to the yanks but when i did house calls on him he would just talk about the 2000 season. unfortunately he passed away in his sleep just before christmas

Oh yes, because Mr Sheffield is such an eloquent speaker. I especially liked when he used the Bill Clinton Defense for his roid use.

But I'm not here to troll. Good luck you guys with the Twins... If we had to play the Twins in the ALDS, if would be like christmas without the tree.

Oh, and I have allready told my boss that if the Sox make it to the series(knock on wood), any game the sox can win the series with is a sick day.

Get up the next day, shower, eat breakfast, get dressed and go to work (unless it's a weekend of course!). No seriously, I don't take my forms of entertainment that extreme to where something like that would affect me that badly.

Hey, the Boston Red Sox didn't form in 1919.

    1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, .....

    So it would be 26-6.

Immediately I'd check to make sure that Four Horsemen weren't galloping down the street, gravity still worked, up hadn't suddenly become down, white hadn't become black, etc etc etc.

Then I'd live up to my promise to give my Red Sox fan relatives my 1918 t-shirt for them to destroy as they wish.

And then I'd go on with my day/life as usual.

I really don't know what I'd do. My bf is a Sox fan, and it just so happens that he's visiting me for 5 days over the time that the last 2 or 3 games of the World Series would be played... I don't know how I would deal with this...speechless.

Do we really need to go down this road AGAIN? We know there are major differences in the two teams personalities. Let it go. Seriously.

Someone had asked a question previously, about why a lot of people on this board don't respect the Red Sox players. I gave him a the reasons, as unbiasedly as I possibly could and he had no rebutal. This person on the other hand did. I really don't think I said anything out of the ordinary when I said they have "awkward (in a baseball sense) personalities and don't know when to keep quiet."

If this is truly the Sox year, I'm just gonna enjoy it and soak it in. I'll buy as much memoribilia as I can get my hands on, get as many season recap DVD's as they put out, try my hardest to get the day off frfom work to go to Boston for the parade, one thing I definitely won't do is get drunk, because I'd want to remember every last ounce of it. Outside my eventual wedding day and birth of child, it would be one of the greatest days of my life (I'm only 23, so it's not like we're talkin about a great deal to choose from )

If the Red Sox win, Yankee fans will still remind us of "their" 26 World Championships. Even the punk 3rd graders I teach. They will tell us to wait 'till next year. If the Yankees lose to the Twins, and the Sox beat the Twins, Yankee Fans will somehow say it's a "tainted" championship, because we didn't go through the Bronx. I wouldn't care if we played the Disney World Team with Mickey Mouse on the bump. Just win! There is no degree of difficulty here. Plus, it would be like the Sox beat the Yankees indirectly anyway.

    That's a positive outlook

Frankly, doesn't make more sense to celebrate and rejoice in your team playing well then spend so much energy hating on the Yankees? I don't get it.

You don't get it is right. My post was not saying how much hatred there is for the Yankees. Frankly, I don't hate them. My post was about the responses Yankee fans would have about a Sox Championship.

If the Sox won the World Series this year, I, for one, would not use the "But look at how many championships the Yankees have won!" line, and I would certainly hope other Yankee fans wouldn't, either. I think that would be very dumb and very juvenile.

If the Sox won the World Series, I would be upset - not because it's necessarily the Sox winning, but because it would mean that the Yankees fell short of their ultimate goal.

I may be in the minority -- maybe it's because I have relatives who are Sox fans -- but I don't hate the Red Sox with a passion. I think the whole rivalry is fun, and I hope the Yanks win, but I don't waste all my time being consumed with seeing the Sox fail.

Although, sadly, I think many Yankee fans now feel that way.

Oh, I totally agree. I have no hatred toward the Yakees. And have never said "Yankees Suck". I root for the Sox with all my heart, because it is where I am from. If i was born in Pittsburgh, i would root for the Pirates. I just love baseball and love everything about it. It is a shame where classless fans from both sides ruin it for everyone else.

I do get it. You classify all Yankee fans as whiners and naturally we would try and denegrate a red sox win by saying that it didn't come through the Bronx. Instead of replying to the question asked as a red sox fan about how great it might be for you if they won the series you turn it around and insult Yankee fans.

Again I ask, why not rejoice in your team playing well? Doesn't that feel better?

Ugh...you win. Of course they are playing well, all that good stuff. I did not classify Yankee Fans as "whiners". The Yankee fans that I know. The one's who live in RI and go to Fenway, those were the "fans" i was describing. And yes I know, not to sterotype all the fans and what not, yada yada yada. Please don't take the post so literal, I also mentioned playing Mickey Mouse, and we all know he has a nasty breaking ball...
