    Angels @ A's :: Do or Die

The Angels just took the lead 5-4 on a 3 run top of the 8th.

Rincon sucks. He is brought in specifically to get the LH Erstad and he barely misses allowing a 3-run HR. The Anderson RBI single off Dotel just got by the 2nd baseman.

I'd prefer to face the Twins over the Angels, but the Athletics over the Twins.

This makes my rooting interests complicated.

Leadoff BB for Dye on a full count by K-Rod.

    Hatteberg batting.

I really think the Angels could take down the Sox in the first round.

Barring a collapse, it may just be Angels-Sox in the first round.

Looks like I'll have to stay up late for that one.

Remember last year when the A's-Sox game went til almost 3 am?

The Angels could take down the Sox or the Yankees in the first round. I'd would prefer to face

    1) Oakland
    2) Minny
    3) Anaheim

in the first round. Anaheim has played us too well this season. Boston has a better track record against the Angels, but I think they'd still give the red sox more trouble than Oak or Minny.

Sure. With Anaheim coming in hot as snot, I'd really love for them to do some of our dirty work for us and take out the Sox.

    Dye steals second.

One on, two out. K-Rod has to get one more strike.

I'd give two fingers off my glove hand to be able to throw a slider as disgusting as the one K-Rod throws.

Dye stranded. Three more outs for the Angels to get.

No arguements there. I'm just wary about rooting for the Angels to get into the ALDS until its mathematically impossible that we're the ones to face them there.

Wow, K-Rod is just too tough.

I actually want the Angels at some point in the playoffs.

Its kind of like the Indians after losing to them in 1997. I wanted a rematch just so we can a past wrong.

I want the Yanks to get back at the Angels for what happened in 2002.

Agreed. Hopefully, if Anaheim wins, they're nice enough to throw a total scrub lineup out there on Sunday, and the Athletics win it for vengeance.

(Or the stupid Indians win a stupid game from the stupid Twins. Stupid.)

The fact that K-Rod isn't the closer is a prime example of the stupidity of letting your heart rule over the objections of your head.

They're wasting great years from a sickeningly talented reliever. Percy has been eclipsed, and should pass the damn torch.

BTW, for those who do or do not care.

    Great one in LA today.

Tomko shuts down LA for 7 2/3 but leaves with 1 out and runners on first and second.

Felipe brings in Eyre and Finley grounds out. Then, Hermanson comes in and Beltre grounds out on the first pitch to end the inning.

Giants are 3 defensive outs from being 1 out with 1 to play and Schmidt starting tomorrow.

    3-0 Giants

The Dodgers could still be in as the WC, right? Depending on how the Houston Clemenses do?

    Its tricky.

They showed the graphic on FOX an inning ago.

    Dodgers win : They're in

Dodgers win and Astros loss : They're in

Dodgers loss and Astros win (if both finish 92-70) : They're will be a 3 way tie for the WC and the Division.

Meaning that on Monday, LA vs. SF in San Fran for the NL West. And the the loser of that game will travel to Houston on Tuesday to play for the WC.

As it stands, Colon would not start Game 1.

    Lackey - Game 1
    Colon - Game 2
    Escobar - Game 3
    ???? - Game 4

Now, Angels, please lose tomorrow so we don't have to play you.

Wow, the end of MoneyBall. What a waste. Guess they choked earlier than usual or as Beane would say they didn't have luck.

If the Angels lose tomorrow and the Twins lose one of their next 2, we get the Twins, right?

EDIT : still, losing two against the Mariners when the season is on the line is very disturbing at best.

The Angels may actually lose tomorrow as I’m sure that now they’ve clinched they’ll rest their starters tomorrow in a pointless game.

If they play Boston, that's just fine.

If Schilling is on, he might not be beatable. So don't waste Colon on that game.

Colon can beat Pedro. I wouldn't be surprised to see Guerrero beat Pedro like a drum. And Colon can still pitch Game 5 if it goes that far.

  49. #49
I think that the Twins want to play the Yankees over Boston. Interesting that I saw Tim Kurijan on BBTN yesterday arguing that it wasn't a good strategy for the Twins when they could have home field advantage and play Boston against whom they have a better record. We'll see.

Hermanson is choking away the Giant's lead.

They may empty the bench and lose tomorrow.

In which case, we should wish for the Indians to sack up and take at least one from the Twinks.
